[MUSIC NEWS] Daz Dillinger Arrested for Marijuana Possession in Georgia

Daz Dillinger has run into some legal trouble. According to court documents, Tha Dogg Pound co-founder was arrested late Tuesday night (Sept. 25) at his home in Powder Springs, Georgia and charged with multiple felonies related to the possession of marijuana.

Cobb County Sheriff’s Office records show that the g-funk pioneer, born Delmar Arnaud, was booked in jail shortly after midnight Wednesday morning. He took out a bond to pay his $15,000 bail and was released this afternoon.

Dillinger faces 12 felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and one felony count listed as “Purchase, Possession, Manufacture, Distribution, or Sale Of Marijuana [sic].”

TMZ reports that police officers seized 117 grams of marijuana from Dillinger’s home in addition to 10 THC pods, THC oil, one THC vaporizer and a container labeled “Cannabis Lean.”

The arrest comes four months after Dillinger told TMZ that Los Angeles police stopped him to ask about “this Kanye West shit” after Daz posted a since-deleted Instagram video suggesting that Crips “fuck Kanye up” in the wake of Yeezy’s pro-Donald Trump statements. Days later, Dillinger released a Kanye diss track. He teased a sequel on Instagram earlier this week.

[NEWS] Bill Cosby sentenced to 3 to 10 years for drugging, sexually assaulting

Disgraced comedian Bill Cosby will serve three to 10 years in state prison, Montgomery County Judge Steven T. O’Neill ruled on Tuesday. The former television superstar, who traded on a squeaky clean, fatherly image, was sentenced after being found guilty of three counts of felony aggravated indecent assault in April in one of the most widely publicized trials in modern history.

Cosby’s legal team asked that he be released on bail, pending his appeal. However, the judge denied that request. He will be sent to prison immediately as Judge O’Neill deemed that he could “quite possibly be a danger to the community.”

The sentence is significantly lighter than the possible maximum sentence for his crimes, each of which carry up to 10 years in prison, meaning he could have served a 30 year maximum sentence. However, District Attorney Kevin Steel asked O’Neill Monday to sentence Cosby, 81, to five to 10 years in state prison. However, Cosby’s defense team argued that even that would cause “excessive hardship” to the elderly star.

“What does an 81-year-old man do in prison?” attorney Joseph Green asked the court. “How does he fight off the people who are trying to extort him, or walk to the mess hall?”

However, Cosby’s accuser, Andrea Constand, as well as the more than 60 women who have come forward with allegations against him in recent years, argued that the man once heralded as “America’s Dad” should not get a pass for his crimes just because of his age and status.

“I wasn’t sure what had actually happened but the pain spoke volumes,” Constand said in an impact statement to the court. “The shame was overwhelming. Self-doubt and confusion kept me from turning to my family or friends as I normally did. I felt completely alone, unable to trust anyone, including myself.”

Cosby’s sentence comes after a lengthy trial that resulted in one mistrial and an eventual guilty verdict, over accusations from former Temple University employee Constand. He was found to have drugged and sexually assaulted Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004. Since then, multiple women have come forward against “The Cosby Show” star with similar allegations of assault.

“So to say that he’s too old to do that — to say that he should get a pass, because it’s taken this long to catch up to what he’s done?” Steele said, his voice rising. “What they’re asking for is a ‘get out of jail free’ card.”

The first part of the sentencing hearings focused on the prosecution’s efforts to label Cosby a sexually violent predator. Despite efforts from Cosby’s defense team to argue that he is no longer a threat to anyone, Judge O’Neil ruled Tuesday that Cosby will be given that label. The classification means that Cosby must undergo lifetime counseling and report quarterly to authorities. His name will appear on a sex-offender registry sent to neighbors, schools and victims.

Cosby’s trial was heralded as the first major celebrity trial of the #MeToo movement, and the first to result in a conviction. Cosby’s reputation sank after comedian Hannibal Buress brought up the numerous sexual assault allegations against the comic in 2014. Since then, more than 60 women have come forward with allegations against him.

“The victims cannot be un-raped. Unfortunately, all we can do is hold the perpetrator accountable,” said Gianna Constand, the victim’s mother, who testified Monday that her daughter’s buoyant personality was forever changed after the attack.

More than a decade prior, Constand sued Cosby in 2005, settling for nearly $3.4 million. In the deposition for that case, Cosby admitted to buying Quaaludes and giving women drugs and alcohol before sex – although he said every interaction was consensual. Constand’s allegations were the only ones that could bring about a criminal case against Cosby as many of the other women’s accusations fell outside the statute of limitations.

[MUSIC NEWS] Dr. Dre’s TV Series Rejected by Apple CEO Due to Violence

Dr. Dre’s TV plans hit a bump in the road. On Saturday (Sept. 22), the Wall Street Journal reported that Vital Signs, which is a semi-autobiographical drama Dre produced for Apple, was rejected by Apple CEO Tim Cook for being too violent.

Apparently Cook saw the six-episode series himself before telling Interscope Cofounder and current Apple exec Jimmy Iovine that the show featured too much violent content. In addition to gun violence, the show also includes scenes with cocaine use and at least one orgy. Neither Dre nor Cook have spoken about the show’s apparent rejection.

l Signs was originally announced back in the winter of 2016 and it’s been revealed that Michael K. Williams, Sam Rockwell and Ian McShane were stars on the show. At the time, it was reported that each episode of the series was supposed to be “focusing on a different emotion and how Dre’s character deals with it.”

While Vital Signs is pretty much no more, that doesn’t mean Dre has had any time off. Back in July, it was reported that the Good Doctor was mixing and mastering Anderson .Paak’s Oxnard album. On Sept. 12, Dr. Dre used his Instagram account to announce the completion of the job.

In the caption for his celebratory post, which included an image of himself with .Paak, Dre let loose the good news. “Just finished mixing the album. It’s a celebration bitches!!”

We may not be getting to see Vital Signs, but at least more of Dre’s handy work will make its way into the world soon.

[MUSIC NEWS] Jay-Z and Beyonce Surprise Teen With $100,000 Scholarship During On the Run II Tour Stop in Arizona

Jay-Z and Beyonce are on a mission to gift 11 lucky students with a $100,000 scholarships and during their Arizona stop on the On the Run II Tour on Wednesday (Sept. 19), the couple surprised Mikayla Lowry with the gift.

Lowry was one of 19 Boys and Girls Club students who attended the show for free and was made aware of her award when DJ Khaled announced her as the winner. “They said my name, and I was like, ‘what?'” the teen said.

Money should be no issue for Jay, who recently topped Forbes’ annual list of the world’s highest-paid hip-hop acts. While Hov came in second last year to Diddy, the Brooklyn rapper took the top spot this year thanks to the $76.5 million he earned.

In related news, the man who rushed the stage during Jay and Beyonce’s stop in Atlanta was charged with simple battery. Although the couple said they wouldn’t be pressing charges, Atlanta police pursued their own. The man was originally issued a citation for disorderly conduct after he ran on stage and made contact with Hov.

Hov and Bey still have a few more scholarships to give out and will announce the winners during their stops in Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Clara, Calif., Seattle and more. The On the Run II Tour wraps up on Oct. 4 in Seattle.

[MUSIC NEWS] Joe Budden Says Diddy Plans to Respond to Eminem’s Claim That He Had Tupac Shakur Killed

It looks like Diddy isn’t about to let Eminem’s “Killshot” name-drop, which saw the Detroit rapper accuse the mogul of having Tupac Shakur killed, go un-checked. According to Joe Budden, who works as a host of his own eponymous podcast and as a TV personality on State of the Culture on the Puffy-owned Revolt TV, Diddy is handling the situation.

Speaking on an episode of The Joe Budden Podcast this past Tuesday (Sept. 19), Budden, who was also a focus of Em’s “Killshot” wrath, says a behind-the-scenes conversation with Puff let him know the Bad Boy Records founder wasn’t going to let Em’s controversial implication go unresponded to.

“Nothing to speculate about. Nothing to talk about,” Budden says. “Puff said it’s in his hands and he said I can tell ya. That’s the end of that. He said, ‘Yeah, there’s nothing to say about it. It’s in my hands.’ He’s wild. Period.”

Budden doesn’t get any more specific, but it’s clear that Diddy would have a reason to be displeased with Em’s bar. On “Killshot,” which is a diss song responding to Machine Gun Kelly’s Em diss, “Rap Devil,” Em references the theory that Diddy had Shakur set up to be shot and killed in Las Vegas 22 years ago.

“Killshot, I will not fail, I’m with the Doc still/But this idiot’s boss pops pills and tells him he’s got skills/But, Kells, the day you put out a hit’s the day Diddy admits/That he put the hit out that got Pac killed,” Em raps on the track.

Em ends “Killshot” by saying he’s just playing around, but according to Budden, that wasn’t quite enough for Diddy.

[MUSIC NEWS] Suge Knight Murder Trial in Fatal Hit & Run Case FINALLY Set to Begin

Suge Knight‘s murder trial for fatally running over a man with his truck nearly 4 years ago is finally going to begin … which has got to be good news for the famous defendant who has been waiting in jail for years.

Jury selection will begin Monday. The jurors will be tasked with determining if Knight was trying to run over Terry Carter back in January 2015 or if he was trying to flee.

Video of the incident shows Suge’s red truck pulling into Tam’s Burgers in Compton — where Dr. Dre was filming footage connected with the NWA biopic, “Straight Outta Compton” — and he’s almost immediately confronted by Cle “Bone” Sloan … who did security for the film.

Suge guns it in reverse and clips Sloan, knocking him to the ground, then floors it forward … running over Sloan again and mowing down Carter, killing him.

Suge claims he was not trying to run either man over but instead was trying to escape out of fear he would be killed. Suge’s legal team has claimed Bone and Terry both had guns.

Since this all went down … there have been countless developments in the case. Firstly, Suge was arrested and has been in jail awaiting trial ever since. He’s been to the hospital for blood clots. His former attorneys were arrested for attempting to bribe witnesses.

On top of that, he was indicted for making death threats against director F. Gary Gray and pled not guilty in that case … and recently his mother died.

But, the focus starting next week will be whether or not Suge intentionally killed Carter. If history is any indication, though … the trial won’t be quick.

[MUSIC NEWS] Plies Arrested After Gun Found in Carry-On Bag at Florida Airport

Plies appears to have been in a rush on his way to Tampa International Airport in Florida today (Sept. 19). TMZ reports that the Florida rapper was arrested after TSA agents discovered a Glock 43 and a loaded magazine in his carry-on bag.

Florida doesn’t, in most cases, require a permit to purchase nor a license to own a handgun, but does require a license to carry a concealed firearm and prohibits concealed carry at airports. TMZ reports airport security arrested Plies for unlawful concealed carry, which Florida considers a third degree felony.

Sources told the celebrity news outlet that Plies simply grabbed the wrong bag, and is in fact a registered gun owner. He was reportedly held in custody at Tampa International while waiting to be transferred to Hillsborough County Jail.

At the time this post was originally published, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office website did not have record of the rapper born Algernod Washington’s arrest.

If convicted, Plies could face up to five years in prison for the charge. He was previously arrested in Florida last January for allegedly driving under the influence but negotiated a plea deal that reduced the charge to reckless driving.

The Fort Myers, Fla. native is currently working on his long-teased fifth album Purple Heart. His latest mixtape Ain’t No Mixtape Bih 3 dropped last December.

Juelz Santana was also arrested this year for showing up to an airport with a gun in his carry-on luggage. The Dipset member is reportedly in the process of negotiating a plea deal.

[MUSIC NEWS] Lupe Fiasco Shares ‘Drogas Wave’ Album Tracklist and Release Date

Lupe Fiasco’s new album is on its way, and it turns out that it’s coming out even sooner than we expected. After initially saying Drogas Wave was set to drop on Sept. 28, Fiasco, who originally unloaded the tracklist and the album cover for the project that same day (Sept. 13), has upped his release date. Today, the rapper says that the recent leaking of his new LP changed has his plans for LP’s launch date. It’s now dropping this Friday, Sept. 21.

“I don’t know how the album got out, but it did. It’s my label and I can do what I want with the music so I’m making it available to my fans now,” Fiasco says of changing the release date for his new project.

Announcing the news on Twitter, Lupe thanked fans for helping him locate the sites pirating digital copies of Drogas Wave. “Big shout out to all the fans who helped keeped the leak from spreading too far and for sending us links to take down the pirates…I REALLY appreciate it,” Lupe wrote in a now-deleted tweet. “Boxden & 4CHAN you broke my heart…when you see me in the streets just swing first, we’ll patch things up later.”

Drogas Wave is a sequel to Lupe’s 2017 album, Drogas Light. As is usually the case with a Lupe LP, there’s more to the title than you might think.

They spent the rest of their underwater existence sinking slave ships. ‘Drogas’ is the Spanish word for drugs. I made it an acronym which stands for ‘Don’t Ruin Us God Said.’”

Getting to the tracklist, it includes features from Damian Marley, Lupe’s longtime collaborator Nikki Jean and more. It checks in at 24 tracks, so you should be expecting a heavy dose of bars.

[MUSIC NEWS] Amber Rose Calls Out Kanye West and Lil Pump for Taking Her Swag on “I Love It” Song

Amber Rose is fed up with the double standards in the media and is taking aim at some of music and fashion’s most prominent names, including Kanye West and Lil Pump.

The model hopped on Instagram on Tuesday (Sept. 18) to share a lengthy post about the brands and rappers being “inspired” by her SlutWalk movement but not giving her any credit. “It becomes extremely frustrating when brands are ‘inspired’ 👀 by the movement and curate my actual life story and use it as a marketing tool,” she wrote.

Rose, who has worn outfits featuring the words “slut,” “hoe” and “bitch” printed on it, then went on to call out Kanye and Lil Pump’s new song, “I Love It,” which features the lyrics, “You’re such a fucking hoe/I love it,” and debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Two men made a song that said ‘you’re such a fucking hoe I love it’ but if I refer to myself as a hoe, take back any derogatory label and turn it into a positive or be confident in my sexuality in anyway mufuckas need 30 showers,” she continued.

Rose’s comment about “30 showers” refers to a 2015 Breakfast Club interview where Yeezy said he had to take 30 showers before he got with his wife Kim Kardashian. “It’s very hard for a woman to want to be with someone that’s with Amber Rose… I had to take 30 showers before I got with Kim,” he said at the time.

Along with her post, Rose also shared videos of Fergie’s “MILF” video and Nicki Minaj’s new campaign with Diesel, which features clothing with derogatory terms printed on it such as “fat” and “the bad guy.” In the caption, Rose added, “Shits annoying af But I’ll continue to be A trendsetter and help women – The Real Bad Guy.”

This is not about the Artists and Talent in these videos. I am extremely frustrated. Every single year I put my blood, sweat and tears into my slutwalk. I did not create the SlutWalk movement. I did, however bring it to the forefront for this generation. People remind of this daily, through their deliberate attacks and evil comments. It becomes extremely frustrating when brands are “inspired” 👀 by the movement and curate my actual life story and use it as a marketing tool. The Amber Rose SlutWalk and SlutWalks all around the globe, do not receive the attention or support they deserve. I do interview after interview to bring more awareness about the equality issues we deal with as women and people….. Body shaming, Fat shaming, slut shaming and victim blaming. I take a lot of punches and a lot of scrutiny and I’m cool with that cuz I do it for the greater good. I also DON’T do it for the recognition AT ALL but God Damn Bruh smh. I remember a few years back I used to put #MILFIN and #MILF on all of my post to only see a music video about milfs that I was not invited to be in… cool. I get it, I was an Actual Stripper, I’m not worthy 🙄 then I show up to the VMAs with my team with outfits that say slut and faggot etc and I go online and see huge brands take that and run with it and still no phone call. Two men made a song that said “you’re such a fucking hoe I love it” but if I refer to myself as a hoe, take back any derogatory label and turn it into a positive or be confident in my sexuality in anyway mufuckas need 30 showers and I’m literally the evilest person on earth yet everyone wants to take my fucking swag but look down on me? Shits annoying af But I’ll continue to be A trendsetter and help women – The Real Bad Guy
