Payso Blanco is a definitely a project geared to hustler’s and the ladies that like em. With his signature nasal voice and style Dyce Payso takes you on a ride and paints pictures through the eyes of a Boss from the Bronx that has seen it all and done it all. The completely original Mixtape Album consists of 14 tracks that sonically mesh really well together and surprised me with a few tracks that have serious commercial appeal.

Let’s start with the good, as I always like to. As a DJ I always say if you have a record I can throw on in the club with no hype juice or politics you already halfway home. At the private listening session held in Harlem a few days before the project was released hosted by Shampoo of YNVS/Def Jam I heard a few of those records. While I was a little disappointed it was track 13 and not placed earlier, “Runnin it up” has a get turnt, get lit vibe to it that should work well in traditional clubs as well as “Shake” spots. Another banger is “Ain’t Loyal” that has the bounce and knock you need for the ride on the West side highway at 4am or whatever highway you on after a late night on ya grind. If you ever came across a disloyal member in ya crew you will vibe to this one for sure.

“Janae” inspired by the Lost Boyz classic Rene is another favorite as Dyce tells the tale of how he lost a shorty, yes it feels familiar but the sample is flipped like flapjacks. I am certain the ladies will enjoy this side of the Bossbred MC. While known for his hard gritty images on records, Dyce gives two more treats for the ladies with “Tonight” that has a vintage Thug meets his Thug Mrs. match that get’s my top rating on the project. Not to be neglected is “She Got Me” that finds Payso experimenting with a Caribbean inspired production and a lil autone. Word on the street this is going to be his next single and he’s shooting the video in Miami soon.

While there were a few tracks I could have lived without, overall I think this is a solid project that represents NY very well. I am expecting it to hit hard in the streets and clubs, and with Payso’s grind I know that is undeniable. Currently the Mixtape is available for free download via datpiff link below…
