The Quest Chronicles: Men Being Pampered is a Crime?

Model: T-Quest

Baths, massages, manicures & pedicures are AMAZING so why are men against it? They say, “That’s for females!”  Is it or are many of you brainwashed by the marketing of companies who put it in your head that these activities are for women? For men who haven’t experienced any of these, you may be missing out!

The other day I was talking to one of my fellow Djs & he told me he’s over worked. Between his 9 to 5 & Djing almost every night, its causing wear & tear to his body. He’s experiencing aches & pains so I suggested him to take an Epsom salt bath to soothe his body. Athletes as well as myself goes to a place called Purest Float where you get into a subtank of 10 inches of water, 100 pounds of Epsom salt & you float naked. Studies show that it helps lower blood pressure, help with chronic pain, lower stress levels & more. When I mentioned it, he laughed at me as if I said something crazy! He said, “What I look like, sitting in the tub, my boy calls, ask what I’m doing & I tell him I’m taking a bath. You know how crazy that sounds?”

I was like, ” You know how crazy YOU sound?!” Who cares what you boy thinks?! You don’t even have to mention you’re taking a bath. You don’t owe anyone an explanation or details of what you’re doing especially if it’s for your well being. I’m tired of people doing or not doing things because of other people.

Do you know how many guys especially athletes who take baths? Ice baths at that? It’s just like men who get massages. Yes, spas are marketed to target women clientele but it’s for men too. Couple massage specials wasn’t created just to have the guy lay next to his lady getting a massage for the fun of it. Men need them too. It’s very common in the medical field, provided at Chiropractic offices as well as a part of sports therapy. A natural self healing is not a crime nor feminine.

Let’s talk about self grooming. Manicures & Pedicures. Once again another activity marketed to female clientele but also important for men to receive as well. Men like to look good & keep up their physical appearance so why stop at a fresh cut, clothes & footwear? Just like you, females don’t want no man with crusty feet rubbing up on them. Especially not a good look in the summer time when they’re exposed. Even manicures are important for personal grooming. A man can be a hard worker but just like a female, at the end of the day, he should keep his fingernail clipped & clean. Men are so quick to want to touch us but let me see your hands & nail bed. Did you even wash your hands before you even try to touch me because that’s just nasty. Just like men expect female to keep up certain things, we expect the same to a certain degree. Not saying every two weeks we should go to the nail salon together but know that it’s not a crime to keep up with personal grooming & healing.

Let me wrap this up by saying it’s ok to do what you have to do for your own self healing & grooming. Don’t worry about what your boys may say! A masculine man who’s secure within himself is not ashamed to take a bath if his body is hurting, book a massage to get those knots out his back or get a manicure to keep his nail bed clean.

Time for me to ask a few QUESTions: As a man are you against baths, massages or any activities similar? Women, are you against men invading our spa days partaking in the same self maintenance or you like your man to take care of himself including these activities? Please give you your feedback.

  1. I agree that men need to pamper themselves when it comes to taking better care of their physical maintenance. Plus, daily massages will improve physical health. For example, asians believe the feet are the most important body part to take care of, because it has been proven to heal other parts of the body. Also, my friend has a friend who opened the first men’s spa for their business to utilize those services that are stereotypically for females, which men should take advantage of utilizing. Unfortunately, insecurities have held men back from using those services that are so-called feminine. Men need to be reprogrammed on how they view massages, pedicures, manicures, etc, and not based on society standards that have shaped and programmed men into thinking what is acceptable or not acceptable when it comes to their masculinity.

  2. I enjoyed it. Great point with “do what u wanna do n not worry about others.” I will say though I don’t think it’s marketing it’s more generation nonesense passdown. My father would never go for a massage or bubble bath n marketing wasn’t so aggressive when he was young n forget even bringing it up to my grandfathers (rip)
