[News] Jada Pinkett Smith : Thug Life
It is no secrete that the marriage of Will and Jada has been a complex and strategic dance that has kept spectators in a trance for at least nine years.
The Smith’s have made millions reexamine marriage and what it takes to maintain the life long union.
Using a very well tailored language of love they redefined love for many by leaving much to be interpreted.
In 2013 Huff Post quoted Jada saying, “I’ve always told Will, ‘You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay,'” she says, speaking to Marc Lamont Hill. “Because at the end of the day, Will is his own man. I’m here as his partner, but he is his own man. He has to decide who he wants to be and that’s not for me to do for him. Or vice versa.”
While Jada never stated she was in a an open marriage the RBLs (read between the lines) left us all convinced that their was a mutual understanding between the two.
Rumors would circulate over the next few years of extramarital affairs that would lose momentum and eventually burn out.
In 2019 R&B artist August Alsina broke the internet broke the internet with his single Nunya.
On the surface, the single was just another sad love song, but the video provided blatant hints that Jada was the protagonist of the song.
The video itself is a live time text between former lovers. The contact name is Koren, Jada’s middle name, with a heartbreak emoji. In the text “Koren” refers to August as Aug, a nickname used during Jada’s Red table Talk interview with August Alsina just months before the single dropped. Finally, August sends “Koren” a meme of Jada in her role as Peaches in 90’s film, Low Down Dirty Shame, staring Kennan Ivory Wayans.
As always this would blow over, until just last week, when August Alsina officially confirmed he had an emotionally intense relationship with Jada in an interview on the Breakfast Club with Angela Ye.
“This conversation is difficult because [it’s] hard for people to understand. But once it starts to affect me and my livelihood, I have to speak up about my truth … Walking away from it butchered me … It almost killed me. Not almost. It did—it pushed me into being another person … It broke me down … It probably will be the hardest thing I ever had to experience in this lifetime. It’s difficult because I never want to be the person to cause confusion or step on toes, but I want to honor myself and I want to honor my authenticity. And if honoring my authenticity means you hate me, stone me, shoot me, crucify me, whatever, bury me an honest man.”
As expected this interview set black twitter a blaze and many online publications issued denial quotes from the beloved Smiths.
This time the pressure of spectators would force the Smiths to publicly address August’s accusation, and what better place that the Jada’s own Red Table.
Will interviewed Jada and they immediately acknowledge the media coverage of the story and the false quotes of denial brought them to the table, “We specifically never said anything. We were purposely not saying anything.”
Now, while Jada thugged it out stating “there are peoples feeling involved” clearly refusing to acknowledge August initially and followed acknowledging she did not like the way this all came to be and that she would not typically address a private matter and considered it quite frankly “nobodies business”.
It almost felt like Will was having to push to get to addressing the matter at hand, finally cutting off the nonsense with a abrupt, “so what happen Jada?”
Of course she started off as most do, Jada made it clear that her and August initially started out as really good friends and that the time he needed help and her wanting to be a part that for him.
She admitted that the marriage was in a bad place and Will confirmed stating,” I was done with your a** .” According to Will they had decided to go separate ways, for a period of time to figure out what made them happy as individuals. Now, the conversation took an award turn when Jada interjected stating the separation was indefinite. Will then said he felt like the marriage could be over, to which Jada interjected again, clarifying, ” Yeah… no we were over. ” In my mind, the screen went black and white and Thug Life was stamped across the screen.
But even with her clearly stating that the marriage was done, she still refused to say that her friendship with August had became a full fledged relationship.
“From there as time went on I got into a different kind of entanglement with August.” Jada said casually.
At this point it was clear that she was had no shame in her game. Jada had became 2020’s Savage of the year with just one word.
To think, August had left all of himself in what he had convinced himself was a relationship between two people. A relationship with a future and promise, but Jada on the other hand was in an entanglement… an entanglement.
Jada did however admit that while Will did not give his blessing, August pursued the relationship under thee pretense that Will and Jada were finished. ” I could see how he could perceive it as permission because we were separated… he wanted to make it clear he was not a home wrecker, which he’s not,” she expressed.
Once again the Smiths have left us all with so much to discuss. The question of gender roles has come up as many believe Jada has taken a masculine role while both Will and August have taken the feminine role. This story is not new, it is just the first time we have seen the wife as the bad guy.
