SO. What are your Names? where you’re from and what first got you interested in the entertainment industry?
GFM. CJ, Maggie, and LuLu. We’re from Jacksonville, FL. We are all sisters, and our parents wanted us to take music lessons for 2 years. They said if we hated it, we could quit, but we all ended up loving music. We played our first show when Lu was maybe 7, Maggie was 10 or 11, and CJ was 12. We were all on spring break, and on the way home, we told our parents we wanted to perform for the rest of our lives.
SO. Who and/or what inspires you to create?
GFM. We honestly inspire each other, We learn from each other and consistently grow with each other. We also are inspired by our fans and their stories and how much they have overcome. We try to take inspiration from everything we can.
SO. How would you describe your sound?
GFM. We are beauty-core! It’s a mashup of pop, punk, metal, rock; it’s got a little bit of everything! We love the heavy breakdowns, riffs, and screams, but we also love a good melody. Our sound is very “in-your-face” in a positive way.
SO. What is your creative process like?
GFM. It’s different every time. Sometimes, inspiration just strikes, and you’re rapid-fire bouncing ideas off of each other and writing them down as fast as possible. Other times, we like to start with a theme or idea, and we write a song that encompasses those factors.
SO. What artist(s) would you like to collaborate with?
GFM. We’d love to collaborate with artists like Lights, Marshmello, A Day To Remember, BTS, Babymetal there’s too many to name haha.
SO. What is one message you would give to your supporters?
GFM. Never give up. You are so much stronger than you may realize. Life can be very hard sometimes, and it’s so important to reach out if you need help. Reach out to us; we try to always be available. You can get through this, and you do matter.
SO. What is the most talent/skill you have that most people don’t know about?
GFM. We are actually all pretty good cooks, and we’re pretty good at playing video games. We can sew pretty well, and we’re getting good at penpalling/letter writing. We’re pretty open about our lives with our fans though, so there’s not much they don’t know haha.
SO. What would you be doing right now, if you weren’t doing music?
GFM. We’d all still be in school haha.
SO. Who are some artists/people you admire and why?
GFM. Lacey Sturm because she is the woman who let us know that girls can scream too. Not to be cheesy, but we really admire our parents as well because of how hard working they are and how much they have and continue to support us.
SO. What is the best advice you’ve been given?
GFM. Be your own biggest cheerleader, celebrate the small things, and don’t burn bridges.
SO. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
GFM. We want more women involved! Our goal with beauty-core is to encourage more women and young girls to join the music industry.
SO. What’s next for you, where would you like to see yourself in the next year?
GFM.W e’ve got new releases, and new shows on the way. Because there were so many cancellations this year, we’re planning on being on the road for a long time next year. 2021 is going to be big.
SO. What is your social media? How can people get in contact with you?
GFM. Everything is @thegfmband. It’s super easy to find us; our website is even www.thegfmband.com, and it has all the links to our social media pages as well. If you’re looking to find us on any digital download/streaming site, search Gold Frankincense & Myrrh.
