1.What is your name? Where you’re from and what first got you interested in the entertainment industry?
Im an artist by the name of “The Real Simba” I was born in Jamaica and came to the U.S when I was 7. I first fell in love with music in Jamaica I grew up listening to a lot of reggae and dancehall music. When I migrated to America the first rap song I heard wasn“cleanin out my closet” by eminem that song told a story and I was drawn in by how Em used music to tell a story motivate people and change his life .
2. Who and/or what inspires you to create?
Everything around me and the things I go through inspire me to create and express myself through my music. I grew up listening to artist like Bob Marley, Jay z, Rakim, Lil Wayne , Outkast etc these artists inspired me and continue to inspire me to today. My family and friends inspire me to keep on putting my all into everything.
3. How would you describe your sound
My sound is fun upbeat exciting and most importantly my sound is me. I don’t imitate and or copy anyones style or flow . Everything I do as an artist is authentic
4.What is your creative process like?
Sometimes I have days/moments were I’m really inspire either by an event in my life and or something I’ve seen or thought about. A certain excitement overcomes me and when I get into a mood like that I can write multiple songs all in the matter of minutes.
5.What artist would you like to collaborate with.
Im willing to collaborate with any artist that shares the same passion for music I do artist such as drake,jcole ,meek mill , kendrick, lil baby, Roddy rich etc these are people that constantly evolve with the business and continue to put out great arts of work
6.What is one message you would give to your supporters
Id like to first thank everyone that supports me and my music. The music business is tough and id just like to tell everyone that no matter what the challenge that you’re facing in life you can overcome it. Work hard and stay persistent and if you really want it you’re going to have to put your all into it.
7.What is the most talent/skill you have that most people don’t know about
The talent that I have is something that everyone knows about, its writing music. But if id have to say something else id say I’m a good actor I always wanted to be in a movie so id practice different lines over and over again just so when the day comes I could be on the big screen.
8.What would you be doing right now if you weren’t doing music
I truly feel/know that music is what I’m meant to do in this world. Ive done multiple things throughout my life but always I’ve stayed committed to creating music.
9. Who are some artists/people you admire and why
I admire anyone in this world that works hard and put there all into everything to provide for the people they love. As far as artist go artist like dr.dre,diddy,jay z has really made a name for themselves through hard work and perseverance, I wish to one day emulate and surpass them.
10.What is the best advice you’ve been given
Best advice I’ve been given is “never give up even when no one believes in you as long as you believe in your self and work hard you can make anything happen”.
11.If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Id change how record companies use artist and how they compensate them for their work. Record companies should not own the artist’s masters because music is an extension of the soul and if an artist puts his soul out there for the world to see no one but that artist should have ownership of that content.
12.What’s next for you ,where would you like to see yourself in the next year?
In the next up coming years with hard work and time I’ll be a staple in this music business. Im working on multiple albums,mixtapes,and singles to give to the supporters that have been with me on this journey. I believe if I continue to work hard and grow I’ll be one of the greatest artist in this business.
