The Artist & Band we have featured is Barbara Black From Spain
SO. What are your Names?
Where you’re from?
What first got you interested in the entertainment industry?
BB. We are Bárbara Black (Vocals), Nitro Destruction (Drummer), Javier Peláez (Guitar), Carlos
Cone (Guitar) and Daniel Buffalo Márquez (Bass).
We are from Spain.
I personally was interested in writing about my feelings or people stories and singing as a way of expressing myself and relating to the world.
SO. Who and/or what inspires you to create?
BB. When I usually write lyrics I am inspired by people stories related to feminism, animal rights
or gender violence. I also tell personal stories such as a paranormal anecdote I lived or a car
accident I had. But I also take inspiration from other artists. For example, writers like Poe or
Bécquer, characters from series or movies (The Queen of the Damned, Interview with the
Vampire, Jeepers Creepers, Game of Thrones), photographers like Nat Enémede, Javier
Bragado or Tony Madrid transmit me a lot; illustrators like B. Lacombe, fashion designers as
Palomo Spain, tattoo artists like Kat Von D or Monique Péres, or even video games like Dark
Country. All of this helps me to create the visual and auditory world that surrounds my
SO. How would you describe your sound?
BB. Our sound is born from the roots of rock with the power of today’s metal. The new album
Love, Death & Flies is our hardest sound. You will find in the lyrics Victorian streets, dark
passages and a decadent romanticism and it will drive you to reach the zenith in
“Damnified”, a reflection of the approach to wilder southern sounds. I am a passionated
singer so there are powerful voices that fly through melodies, screaming and opera. And
what I really like the most is the sharp guitars and devastating drums.
SO. What is your creative process like?
BB. We are used to start from a sketch and then we develop together the structure, harmony
arrangements etc. But sometimes we rely on technology and send each other ideas to work at home
SO. What artist(s) would you like to collaborate with?
BB. It would be a dream to collaborate with Doro Pesch, Alter Bridge, In this moment,
Halestorm, Black Stone Cherry, Sixx A.M and many more!
SO. What is one message you would give to your supporters?
BB. Thank you so much for all your love and support you give us and above all in the two
crowdfunding’s we did that made or albums possible.
SO. What is the most talent/skill you have that most people don’t know about?
BB. I am a very good teacher!! Hahahahah my students are happy studying Music or English
SO. What would you be doing right now, if you weren’t doing music?
SO. Who are some artists/people you admire and why?
BB. We love bands as Alter Bridge, Black Stone Cherry, Halestorm, Sixx A.M, or Shinedown
because of their compositions and quality sound. I personally love original voices such as
Doro Pesch, Janet Gardner, Maria Brink, Eric Martin, Russell Allen and many more!
SO. What is the best advice you’ve been given?
BB. Be constant until you get your dream.
SO. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
BB. Too many things hahahha.
SO. What’s next for you, where would you like to see yourself in the next year?
