Meek Mill

Meek Mill has pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of possessing a firearm without a license, The Associated Press and Philadelphia’s NBC affiliate WCAU report.

All other charges in the case, which stretches back over a decade, have been dropped.

Meek will not have to serve any additional time in prison and will no longer be on probation.

Meek Mill’s representatives sent the following statement from the rapper:

“I’m extremely grateful that my long legal battle is finally behind me and I appreciate that it has sparked a much-needed discussion about probation reform and the inequalities that exist within our two Americas. I have always told the truth—that as a teenager, who saw many around me die from senseless gun violence, I carried a gun for protection. I take responsibility for that and—in conjunction with my work on the REFORM Alliance—I’ll continue to use my platform to make communities safer and reform our criminal justice system. I want to express my gratitude to all of my supporters, especially JAY-Z, Desiree Perez, Michael Rubin, my legal team, and everyone else who stood by me throughout the years. It’s important that we now channel our energy into helping the millions that are unjustly trapped in our criminal justice system”.

Last month, a Pennsylvania appeals court overturned Meek Mill’s 2008 conviction on drug and gun charges that has landed the rapper in prison multiple times over the last decade.

Meek’s lawyers had argued that Reginald Graham, the police officer who arrested Meek in 2007, was not a credible witness and that he allegedly gave false testimony during the initial trial.

  1. Irv Gotti is back. The Murder Inc. founder/ hip hop and R&B producer has created an interesting yet simple way to look at hiphop onto your tv screen starting summer ’17. Salute to B.E.T. for picking up the brilliant show. And an even harder salute to Jay Z for picking up the show in its full-unedited directors cut version to stream on Tidal 30 days after the original B.E.T. air date.

The show is called Tales. Only 2 of the episodes are directed by Irv Gotti. The show takes hot hiphop songs and turns the song into a full hour episode. Each show has a different director with professional screen writers and different cast.

Yeah, a show you don’t have to watch from season 1 episode 1 to understand. That’s genius.

Some of the first season rap songs turned into episodes include music by N.W.A., Nas, Notorious B.I.G., Meek Mill, Mary J. Blige, Method Man and more.

What rap song do you want to see on Tales?

Season premier is June 27th on B.E.T.

“I told Jay-Z this idea is so simple and you’re gonna say why didn’t I think of it first.” – Irv Gotti
