[NEWS] TaxStone Charged with Troy Ave Shooting

Popular New York-based podcaster Daryl Campbell b.k.a “Taxstone” sent the media world into overdrive Monday, January 16th when news broke that he was arrested in connection with the Troy Ave shooting at Irving Plaza in May 2016. The incident resulted in 1 fatality, Troy’s bodyguard and several others injured including Troy Ave himself. Troy who is now out on bail dealing with issues of his own including a recent extortion attempt and being shot at in Brooklyn last month is said to be happy about the news of Taxstone arrest.

“I view the charges brought today before the SDNY as a positive step in the direction of true justice for what occurred at Irving Plaza that night,” the Brooklyn rapper said in a statement through his lawyer, John B. Stella. “As we have said since May 26, 2016, Roland Collins (Troy Ave) did not enter Irving Plaza with a handgun the night of the TI concert,” his lawyer Stella, said. “He was not responsible for the four shots fired inside the Green Room that took the life of his dear friend (Ronald) McPhatter, and caused injury to him and two other innocent bystanders.” [ via Bossip]

Police reports state “Taxstone’s” DNA was found on the base of the 9-millimeter Tec 9 that was fired at the scene and witnesses have come forward confirming Taxstone was, in fact, the shooter. He is now facing federal gun charges and was set to be released on 500,000 bond until a witness came forward to testify as well as other evidence allegedly showing proof that he did indeed fire the fatal shot that killed Troy Ave’s bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter.

The two have a history of beef with Tax stone at one point calling Troy a “Fraud Rapper” and referring to Troy when he stated,  “When I see you walking up with six dudes, bang-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba.” Troy also released a diss record titled “Lower Level Nutstax”. It’s an unfortunate situation for all parties and hopefully will be resolved soon. Taxstone is currently being held without bail.
