Celebrity Spotlight: MzMinah BrownDivah Gets Exclusive Interview with Angie Alove

Where are you from?
“I’m from the South East side of Chicago, born and raised.”

Talk me through your creative process!
“I started singing at age 2, began making up songs around age 5, and officially started writing songs and poetry by 11 years old. At 13, I began designing my own clothing and wearing those outfits to school, which sparked my admiration for fashion. By 17, I took on beauty pageants and have aimed to make a significant impact ever since.”

Where and how do you work best?
“I work best when I pray and meditate. In my own element, I can concentrate and analyze effectively.”

Shifting Gears

What’s the best advice you ever received?
“Don’t ever let anyone tell you you’re not beautiful because you are. Also, stop letting people use you; don’t let your kind heart get walked all over—just because someone smiles in your face doesn’t mean they’re your friend.”

What remains your biggest challenge?
“Being the best version of myself is my biggest challenge. I have so much drive in me, and I’m always striving to improve and be my greatest.”

What’s your best advice for handling criticism?
“Remember, you’re a student, and each day is a learning opportunity. Take what you learn to grow from it, and never let it discourage you. Be teachable; there’s always room for improvement.”

What would you have done differently if you knew then what you know now?
“I would have definitely loved and chosen myself first.”

Wrapping It Up

What are you focusing your time on now?
“I’m focusing on continuing to coach, mentor, and inspire others, utilizing my talents and knowledge to keep progressing.”

What surprising lessons have you learned along the way?
“Self-love was a big lesson. I really had to soul search and deeply love myself to understand my worth.”

Who influenced you most throughout your career?
“My Aunt Ann has always been a significant influence on me. She was that one person whom always told me I’m beautiful, always told me I’m a star and whom always believed in me, and told me I’ll make it and how proud she’s been of me.
