Q&A WITH DEJA MORE

What is your Name? Where you’re from and what first got you interested in the entertainment industry?

My name is Deja More. Born and raised in New York City, I now call Augusta, Georgia home. With a lifelong passion for music and entertainment, I began my journey as a dancer, attending a performing arts school at a young age. Music has always been my rhythm, my inspiration—and my constant.

Who and/or what inspires you to create?

So many things inspire me—sounds, frequencies, emotions, just life in general. I’ve always tapped into energy and expression. Musically, I draw a lot from legends like Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill, Lil’ Kim, EVE, Rapsody, Missy Elliott, Nas, and Jay-Z. Their voices, messages, and fearlessness made a lasting impact on me.

How would you describe your sound?

My sound is versatile and universal. You might hear hip hop, blues, spoken word, Caribbean influences, afrobeats—even dance music. I love blending genres because it allows me to express different sides of myself. I don’t believe in being boxed in.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS

What is your creative process like?

It usually starts with a beat. I ask myself, “What is this beat trying to say to me?” Other times, I already have lyrics or an idea in my head—I’ll record it on the spot, so I don’t lose it, then later find a beat that matches the vibe. I let the process flow naturally.

What artist(s) would you like to collaborate with?

There are so many artists I’d love to work with! J. Cole, Teyana Taylor, Future, Doechii—and on the afrobeats side, artists like Rema, Ruger, CKay, Ayra Starr, and Tems. I respect artists who bring something fresh and real.

What is one message you would give to your supporters?

Their support means everything. They are the heartbeat that keeps an artist going. Without people to connect with, there’s no one to make an impact on—and for me, that connection is what it’s all about.

Deja More

Authenticity can’t be duplicated—only mimicked. Being true to who I am is the most powerful tool I have.

Deja More

SHIFTING GEARS

What is the most talent/skill you have that most people don’t know about?

Honestly, no! I’m an open book (laughs). I put everything on the table—what you see is what you get.

What would you be doing right now, if you weren’t doing music?

I’d probably be teaching as a life coach or doing something in the tech industry. I’ve always had a passion for growth, transformation, and innovation.

Who are some artists/people you admire and why?

I respect all the women who came before me—those who paved the way or are walking this path right now. But the person I admire most is my mother. She gave me a beautiful balance of strength and femininity, encouraged my dreams, and saw my potential even when I couldn’t.

Deja More

WRAPPING IT UP

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

The way women are perceived and treated compared to men. We bring just as much to the table, and it’s time that’s fully recognized.

What’s next for you, where would you like to see yourself next year?

On bigger stages, touring the country, and building my own dance company and studio. I’m not stopping—I’m expanding.

What is your social media? How can people get in contact with you?

My social media handles are Deja More on all platforms and Deja_ More Official on YouTube. Also DejaMore.com launching soon….

Remembering a Hip Hop Legend: The Passing of Geto Boys’ Bushwick Bill and His Enduring Legacy

Bushwick Bill
Photo Cred: Rolling Stone

Six years ago, the Hip-Hop community mourned the loss of one of its most influential and audacious pioneers. Bushwick Bill of the legendary Geto Boys. Known for his fearless lyrical style, vivid storytelling, and unflinching honesty, Bushwick left an indelible mark on the genre. One that continues to inspire artists worldwide.

Bushwick Bill, born Richard Shaw, was a Haitian-Jamaican-American rapper whose career took off in the late 1980s and early 1990s. One half of the Houston-based group Geto Boys. The trio, made up of Scarface, Willie D, and Bushwick. They revolutionized Southern hip hop with their gritty narratives, raw production, and provocative themes.

Musical Accolades

Their hit albums like Grip It! On That Other Level (1989) and The Resurrection (1996) showcased Bill’s vivid storytelling prowess and his ability to confront taboo topics head-on—ranging from violence and addiction to mental health and survival. One of Bushwick Bill’s most iconic moments came with the release of “My Mind Playing Tricks on Me,” a song that delved into mental health struggles with raw authenticity—a rarity at the time.

His distinct voice, animated persona, and fearless attitude helped redefine what it meant to be a hip hop artist, breaking down barriers and opening doors for future generations.

A Personal Encounter with Megastar

Bushwick Bill

In an exclusive interview, celebrity reporter Megastar recounts a remarkable moment from her career that encapsulates Bushwick Bill’s larger-than-life personality and trailblazing spirit.

“Meeting Bushwick Bill was nothing short of extraordinary,” Megastar recalls. “We shared the stage together in Peoria, Illinois, during a hip hop festival in 2018. Despite the different eras of our careers, he brought a vibrant energy, a genuine humility, and an undeniable passion for the culture.

It was clear that he was not just a rapper but a true pioneer who paved the way for so many of us in the industry.” Megastar emphasizes that Bushwick Bill’s contributions extended beyond his music. “He was an advocate for mental health awareness before it was commonplace, always speaking openly about his own struggles.

His fearless honesty helped destigmatize conversations around mental illness in hip hop,” she adds. “His artistry challenged norms, and his legacy is embedded in the DNA of modern hip hop.”

A Legacy of Resilience and Innovation

Bushwick Bill’s influence resonates across countless artists who cite him as an inspiration. His unapologetic storytelling, unique voice, and willingness to tackle difficult subjects have etched his name into hip hop history.

As a pioneer of Southern rap, he helped transform Houston into a national hip hop hub, exposing the world to the distinct sounds and stories of the South. Despite facing numerous personal challenges—including a near-fatal shooting incident that resulted in the loss of his eye—Bill remained resilient, using his experiences as fuel for his creativity.

His work inspired a generation of artists committed to authenticity and social commentary.

Remembering a Legend

Fans, artists, and critics alike remember him not just for the music, but for his courage, authenticity, and trailblazing spirit that refused to be silenced.

As the hip hop community continues to honor his memory, one thing remains clear: Bushwick Bill’s voice and vision helped define a genre—and his influence will echo for generations to come.

50 Cent Claims People Are Being Paid to Wear “Free Diddy” Shirts: What’s Really Going On?

In a surprising turn of events, hip-hop mogul and rapper 50 Cent has sparked controversy by making bold claims suggesting that individuals are being paid to wear shirts emblazoned with “Free Diddy.” This allegation has sent ripples through the entertainment and fashion communities, prompting fans and critics alike to question the motives behind this apparent promotion.

The Allegation

During a recent social media post, 50 Cent took a swipe at Sean Combs. In what he described as orchestrated efforts to garner support for Sean “Diddy” Combs. He claimed that certain people, possibly influencers or fans, were paid to sport “Free Diddy” shirts. These garments that seem to symbolize solidarity with the music mogul amid ongoing legal or personal issues. While not providing concrete evidence, Fif’s words fueled speculation about whether this campaign is grassroots or a paid promotional stunt. The claim raises questions about authenticity in celebrity activism and the role of paid endorsements in shaping public opinion.

Context and Background

Diddy has been a prominent figure in the entertainment industry for decades, known for his business acumen and influence. He’s facing various challenges as of late. Ranging from legal disputes to personal controversies—that have prompted some supporters to rally behind him. Wearing “Free Diddy” shirts has become a visible symbol of loyalty and support among certain fans. On the other hand, critics argue that such campaigns can be manipulated or artificially created. Thus blurring the lines between genuine advocacy and paid promotion. 50 Cent’s accusation adds fuel to this debate, suggesting that industry insiders might be orchestrating these displays for certain agendas.

Broader Implications

This controversy underscores larger issues. Mainly those surrounding influencer marketing, authenticity in celebrity activism, and the blurred boundaries between genuine support and commercial interests. As fans become more conscious of promotional tactics, transparency from celebrities and brands is in high demand.

Conclusion

While the truth behind 50 Cent’s allegations remains unconfirmed, the conversation highlights complex dynamics of modern celebrity culture. Not to mention the power of social media in shaping narratives. If these shirts are paid promotions or heartfelt expressions of support, one thing is clear… the world is watching. There will be more than 21 questions about authenticity continue to dominate discussions.

What’s your best advice for handling criticism?

The Watchlist: Conversation With A Vision | Lul Jaida

Lul Jaida

Welcome to The Watchlist: Conversation With a Vision where Straight Official’s own DJ Gea chops it up with a purpose. Lul Jaida is a trendsetting artist who is providing music and entertainment at a high level.

Q&A WITH LUL JAIDA

DJ GEA: Let our readers know where you from & how did the city you lived in motivate and push you?

Lul Jaida: I’m from the south suburbs of Chicago.  I also, lived in Chicago for a couple years as well. Where I come from, it’s like I get the best of both worlds, living in the city showed me a different type of survival to make me grind harder from what I was normally used to growing up in the burbs.

How did you get started in music? What was it about music that caught your attention?

I always had a thing for music growing up, I used to write songs when I was in middle school, but I started making music after I figured out I had the talent and a lot ppl supported/ believed in me. So I just kept going & I was dedicated to getting better at it.

Where did the name come from?

My name is already Jaida, I just added the “Lul” on it. I used the Lul instead of Lil because a lot of ppl already had lil in front of there name. Even with my name being Lul Jaida but it’s still Big Jaida not the Little one!

Lul Jaida

How long have you been doing music? What has been your biggest accomplishment so far?

I’ve been doing music consistently for 2 years but I started making music & dropping in 2020. My biggest accomplishment so far is getting my music spent regularly on WGCI & 92.3. Also, having over 120k+ streams on one of my latest single “Back Seat” audio, as well as other records I have out. However the “BACK SEAT” Music Video coming sooner than they think!

SHIFTING GEARS

What do you bring to the game that no other artist is bringing now?

I’m in my own lane, I’m not following behind the next person. My work ethic, I’m one of the hardest working female artist buzzing out of our market. My voice/sound is different. I’m one of the only unsigned INDEPENDENT artists from Chicago with a whole team.. 2 managers, my own DJ, and dancers. & I’m moving around state to state with no deal! Basically building my own machine in the game.

In 2025 how do you plan to set the tone?

I plan to keep dropping fire music with visuals & keep giving my fans the best shows wherever I perform. I’m going to continue moving around til everybody across the world know my name & who I am.

What are some things you aspire to do with your music?

I aspire to be able to make ppl dance (not twerk) actually dance with choreography, to motivate & inspire others, to get happy when you hear my music and have ppl to be able to relate to things we both may have went through in our past.

Lul Jaida

LUL JAIDA STAY LIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LETS TALK MUSIC

Describe your style of music?

I have multiple styles of music but I would say my style of music is like lit, baddie, bossy, fun, confident, getting money, freaky type of music.. but also dance and pop records too, etc.

What’s your process for writing a song?

I like to listen to a beat, then form the beat as I write my lyrics. Then go to the Stu for 6-12 hour sessions and knock out my songs.

Have you had any live shows and if so tell me about your favorite performance?

I’ve had so many live performances, I just did 14 stages at SXSW. But my most favorite performance would probably be when I performed at WIU. It was so lit, so much love shown. I’d definitely go back and perform again!

Lul Jaida

What single are you pushing and how did it come about? How long did it take you to write it? Who is the producer? Is there a visual for the song?

I’m pushing my 2 singles “Backseat” & “on dummy”. “Back Seat” is produced by international Ukraine producers @djeverb & @rocco_dj. I went based off the title and the beat which made the song easy to write, and I described my experience/ relatable things. It only took me a hour to write. The visual is already shot and will be coming soon!

“On Dummy” is produced by @rjaeonnatrack. Once I heard the beat, it made me feel like I was on dummy lol. The beat so hard, and it go crazyyy. I wanted to talk my stuff on it. The visual is out now featuring A.R. the mermaid out of Memphis. It took me like 20-30 minutes to write this verse and hook.

IN CLOSING

Besides music, are there any other ventures you are currently sewing your seeds in?

Yes, right now I’m getting ready to launch my merchandise line! & I want to start my own makeup/cosmetics line, as well as other business later down the line!

Where do you see yourself in the next 3 to 5 years?

I see myself performing on bigger stages like rolling loud/big jam/summer smash & performing in different countries! Being nationally known! Working with bigger artists, having everybody in Lul Jaida merch. Stepping into different lanes and genres of music.
