[Single] @KaboomHoly ‘Captain Diamond’

With sonic surprises at every turn, Fayetteville artist “Kaboom Holy” is the embodiment of the unnamed space between what currently exists and what could be. With a dynamic, almost volcanic energy, at times it seems music and lyrics serve as mere canvases primed to showcase Holy’s warrior-like charisma and animated vocal takes. With youthful spirit, Kaboom delivers paced lines about street life over grungy Hip-Hop beats and couples them with chant-like hooks that sound heavy-metal adjacent. Look a bit deeper, and you’ll discover that Holy’s career is one that began over a decade ago. His interests varied, picking up hobbies like skateboarding and dancing. However, from budding as a producer at the age of 13 to release his first self-produced single directly to YouTube in 2011, Kaboom Holy’s passion for music became his main reason and overarching dream. Kaboom even saw group success in creating his now well-known rap group “Party Pack”, alongside high school friends Money2x, SCOE, and SNO Wooh. Unfortunately, in a bend of fate, the teenager’s dream was interrupted by repercussions of the lifestyle he was pursuing behind the music. Through years of numerous trials and even a federal indictment, 21-year-old Kaboom was acquitted and he returned to pursuing his music career – this time with a transformed outlook and the consideration of a mental illness. Despite having to adapt to these new challenges, the relentless artist was able to formulate a creative team and record label with the moniker XXVI-CMX (pronounced Twenty-Six Nine Ten) to further his position in the industry. Holy has since continued to employ that iconic, activated sound he developed with Party Pack, effortlessly selling listeners with his street aesthetic and uniquely vibrant energy. Most recently that can be experienced in “Captain Diamond”, his newest single gaining traction on all platforms nationwide. Kaboom Holy is a mosaic of an artist, with each exceptional, bright shard creating an artist time won’t soon forget.

RED LIGHT PLAYLIST | New Music Monday

Happy Monday, y’all! The day is almost over, and soon the smooth sounds of the “Midnight Meltdown” will begin caressing the airwaves of Moore Music Radio. Nevertheless, today is New Music Monday across the nation. That means I had to bring y’all a red light playlist, specially curated by me! Now, this list in no particular ranking or order, just catch the vibes and let me know which song stood out to you. Hopefully you can find a few that are brand new to you.

10. SWEET MARCELLA x MR. NOVA

To start off our red light playlist, here we have Mr. Nova with an up tempo, yet suave melody. It really makes you feel something. I just don’t if I feel in my heart or my… you know.

9. ALWAYS x JON VINYL

Next up, Jon Vinyl with “Always” from his album ‘Lost In You’. If love songs that make you close your eyes, snap, and sing – THIS THE ONE!

8. COUNTLESS TIMES x MARZZ

In this video we have Marzz, a voice for the young folk with an old soul. You may have seen her on the Soul Train Awards and let me just say, hearing her sing live adds a whole new sparkle to this song.

7. LET YOU GO x ANAYKA SHE

I’m so excited to see what Anayka She does in her career because this song is just so rich and honest. Unfortunately, we often see girls who look like her and sing like her struggle to breakout.

6. CLOSER 2 ME x A HAYGAN & SASHA RENEE

Take a listen to this single from A Haygan & Sasha. The vibes are oh-so-nostalgic, and the spoken word is simply what intimacy feels like through art.

5. I JUST WANNA KNOW x JADE NOVAH

Now, we always knew this woman could sing from her viral videos. If you’ve been loving the Silk Sonic collabs (i.e. Smoking Out the Window, Leave the Door Open), then you will love this track from Jade.

4. NOTHING EVEN MATTERS x KEVIN ROSS & KIRBY

Now this one is a classic remake. Dare I say that the vibes in this song are even smoother than the original by Lauryn Hill & D’Angelo. The vocals just flow together like water. We often discourage artists from remakes because we DO NOT want them to mess up our favorites, but give this one a chance!

3. GRIND IT ON ME x CHIEF GRIFFEY

Hailing out of Louisville, KY we have Chief Griffey (who is also celebrating another year in the industry today). It gives us some R&B vibes with a Soca crossover. If you’re trying to wine and grind, check this out!

2. BAD x BRXTN

First things first, thank you for this track BRXTN because every time I listen to this song, without fail, I just feel super sexy. This is a perfect song to add to your red-light playlist whether you’re a single or a couple.

1. DISCRETION x STEFFANY MONEQUE

Lastly, but not least we have Steffany Moneque with the breathtaking song “Discretion”. This track gives me mixed emotions because, my goodness it’s beautiful, but it’s so intense. Oooo girl, this is poetry!

CARDI ON TRIAL FOR COOTIES

For the last 2 years, Bronx Queen, Cardi B has been at legal battle with Youtube personality, Tasha K (UnwinewithTashaK). The story goes, Tasha, on several occasions, cites Cardi as being a prostitute with STDs who abuses drugs. Now, this is not the first time someone attempts to slash, slander, or cancel CARDI B – but she’s made it clear that her brand was built to protect her from a trial. Does that leave any room for Cardi to rightfully deserve to pay a multi million dollar lawsuit?

Let’s Go To The Facts…

Tasha K & CARDI B trial via @unwinewithtashak

Tasha K. Is Saying That?

If you don’t know who Tasha is – it’s okay we don’t really care. Here on the internet she’s known as “the woman with fake gossip and cheap wine”. Flattering. The “Press” rapper’s lawyers are saying that sis just did this for clout. The YouTube personality starting circulating videos and rumors about Belcalis around the end of 2018. Following the very beginning of 2019, the rapper filed a lawsuit for defamation against all claims. Cardi? A prostitute? Mind you, we don’t slut shame around here but she did become a stripper so we can’t even shocked. Drug abuser? How about mind your business because if I put you in a room with 10 people, I bet at least 5 of them smoke way more than science suggests. This STD is the real debate.

Cardi B via biography.com

Emergency Card Valid

In response to Cardi B filing her suit, Tasha K. filed a counter-lawsuit on the basis of slander (girl, please)! She claimed that Blood gang affiliates were sent to her house by the rapper to threaten her at her Atlanta home, however that $3 million claim has been dismissed due to lack of evidence. Both parties were scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 9th of this year. Nevertheless, that didn’t happen because Cardi had to tend to a family emergency and the judge approved.

The Medical Records Determine

Though case was postponed, it was not before the judge declared that the Center for Women Pelvic Health at UCLA needs to produce “any and all medical records within [their] possession related sole to the the testing for herpes and HPV for Belcalis…” The new trial date is set for January 5th, 2022. Tasha tries it every once in while with her ridiculousness. But, so far only wins for Cardi on these unbased claims.

Santa Sallet is Putting On For The DMV

#GetSOM via @djspins

Recently I got the chance to chop it up with SANTA SALLET to get to know the upcoming DMV recording artist and speak on what he has going on currently.

DJ SPINS: What is your Stage Name? Please tell us where you’re from and what first got you interested in the entertainment industry?

Santa Sallet: My name is Santa Sallet and I was born a champion in Roseau, Dominica. I currently rep the DMV. I love cartoons and I excelled at poetry at a young. One day I came home and I saw Busta Rhymes’ video Gimme Some More and the rest is history.

DJ: Who and/or what inspires you to create?

SS: I see rap kind of like martial arts. I enjoy the sport of rapping and I want to continue sharpening my sword and my skills. The way I can do that is to rap with the best. To do that, I need to be part of the best of them.

DJ: How would you describe your sound?

SS: Classic. I bring a lot of classic 90s rap sounds with a modern flair. My rap style is really a child of New York/East Coast rap.

DJ: What is your creative process like?

SS: I am always freestyle. I am forever freestyling. I will hear a beat that’s so dope once it comes on that I can’t stop freestyling to it. The only way I can stop is to conquer the beat by writing a song to it. Then I can find peace once more.

DJ: What artist(s) would you like to collaborate with?

SS: Busta Rhymes, obviously, but also Schoolboy Q, ASAP Mob, Tyler the Creator, Dave East, Maxo Kream, Baby Keem, Kendrick Lamar, and the legends like Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z.

DJ: If you could open a show for any artist who would it be?

SS: Schoolboy Q or Tyler the Creator right now would be dope.

DJ: What is one message you would give to your supporters?

SS: Think and grow rich. What you think, say and do is what you will become.

DJ: What is the most useless talent you have?

SS: Juggling and completing Rubik’s Cubes really fast are pretty useless talents.

DJ: What would you be doing right now, if you weren’t doing music?

SS: The same thing I do every day. Try to take over the world. Being a rapper is just the start. I am an entrepreneur and rapping is just one of my business ventures. So I guess I’d still be making money.

DJ: Who are some artists you admire and why?

SS: I admire Kanye West. He was one of the first artists known for both their production and ability to rap. I wanted to emulate that and produce my own rap albums. In addition to Kanye West, I also admire other billionaire rappers such as Jay-Z and Dr Dre (Not quite…but you get the idea). I too would like to be a billionaire rapper. Finally, I admire Will Smith. What an amazing career. He’s also one of my early rap influences. He has a phenomenal career as a CLEAN rapper and actor. I too would like to rapper/actor.

DJ: What is the best advice you’ve been given?

SS: Be original. I was lucky enough met DJ Jazzy Jeff for the release of his album “The Magnificent” during a family vacation in Cape Town, South Africa. I bought his record and lined up for a signature. When I got to the front I asked him if you had one piece of advice for an aspiring rapper, what would it be? He thought about it and replied, “Just be original. No matter what you do or what anybody says just be original. Be yourself. Be original.” As a huge Fresh Prince fan, I remember being SUPER nervous at the time and like walking away when he started talking, but he stopped me because he really wanted to make sure I heard what he was saying. I now approach my rap career with these words in mind.

DJ: If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

SS: I wish it was easier to use other people works to create derivative works. Like I get its copyrighted and you need to be compensated. I don’t get why you are allowed to say no. Let’s make sampling easier. I guess you could disagree with the message your music is being used for, but that’s art. I think it’s meant to be free to grow and evolve. They say you have two deaths: The first is when you die. The second is the last time someone says your name. I want to live forever, baby. Use my music.

DJ: What’s next for you, where would you like to see yourself in the next year?

SS: I want to go on tour. I will be dropping my official mixtape early next year. Be on the lookout for Plutography. I want everybody to hear it. I plan to rap all over the world.

DJ: What is your social media? How can people get in contact with you?

SS: You can find me on everything @SantaSallet. You will find me hanging out on Instagram the most. If you want to get in touch head over to my website at www.SantaSallet.com and fill out the contact form. Otherwise, don’t be weird and just drop me a message on any of my socials.

Bryson Tiller Releases ‘Killer Instinct 2’

#GetSOM via @mochathemack

THE RETURN OF PEN GRIFFEY

Happy Monday! Y’all know I’m always going to shoutout the 502 especially, because lately they’ve really been putting on. Although it seems like this Louisville artist always leaves his fans on read, he’s returned! BRYSON TILLER released ‘Killer Instinct 2’, which is a sequel to his 2011 Halloween mixtape by the same name. It very much gives Trap Soul Halloween, so let’s get into it.

via Flaunt Magazine

This new release consists of 13 tracks including Tiller’s rendition of Normani’s “Wild Side” and Chris Brown’s “Heat”. The TrapSoul creator also only features fellow Kentucky artists like Julius Keith, Marz, and producer Rob “Saint” Calloway. These folks made ART fit into 28 minutes. (And can talk about the Diddy intro on Money Dance?)

Ima keep showing them what Louisville sounds like…”

@juliuskeithmusic

Where’s Bryson Tiller Been?

Tiller took to the internet and assured fans that new albums are on the way citing his grandmother’s death as his reason to resist stagnancy. This is certainly reflected in the first track entitled “First Call”, which appears to be a conversation with himself about getting back on track. He follows up in the calls after to remind young Tiller to keep going, also revealing that the second voice is future Tiller. Bryson is now gearing up for his long-awaited album Serenity, the follow-up to last year’s Anniversary.

Celebrating the anniversary with you guys last year really helped me fall in love with making music… because to be honest, for a while there I really didn’t want to be bothered with anything music related…”

@brysontiller
via Capital XTRA

What I love about this project is how raw it is! Bryson was just honest through and through, in addition like he said, he just came to be an artist and create with no expectations. He did just that! That “Kentucky Shit” was just dope in a right of its own because this is honestly a song I’ve been waiting for from him. Oh, and the Marz vocals – YES!

If you haven’t heard it yet, tap in here. After you listen, tell me what the best track was! Take listen to the first volume of the mixtape here.

Meet the Artist: 85Royaltee

Etienne Conner, known as 85Royaltee, is a musician from Florida who has been in the industry since he was 15 years old. He began his career as an engineer and was originally not a huge fan of the spotlight. That all changed when he realized people won’t let you touch their music without hearing what you can do. He started to freestyle, mix, and master his own music. He ended up gaining a fanbase, and didn’t expect to connect with people the way he has throughout his career.

85Royaltee fully realized his potential when he had his first performance and forgot the lyrics to his verse. The crowd became was upset that the song was ending prematurely. It was a song that 85Royaltee composed, and he couldn’t ignore his call to music any longer.

“At that moment, I realized that I needed to take this seriously and go hard. Succeeding [in the music industry] isn’t easy – it takes practice and you have to grind and perfect this craft,” he explained.

85Royaltee has kept his word, consistently dropping new music, promoting his work and performing in and out of the U.S. He even lived in Japan for about a year, where he performed and reached a new audience. “I love performing and seeing people who don’t speak my language, vibing to my music; that was the best feeling I’ve had so far.”

With all of this experience under his belt, 85Royaltee has improved both musically and financially.

I’m proud of how far I’ve come. A lot of people say they want to do it, but don’t follow through. I’ve managed to follow through for so long and it’s paying off. I’ve even tapped into the business side of the music industry, which will help me grow even more.

85Royaltee on his experience in the music industry

Of course, the music industry comes with its challenges. 85Royaltee wants to focus on reaching the masses and expanding his audience while staying true to himself. “A lot of people will tell you to change your sound, your cadence, or your fashion. I’ve continued to be me and it’s gotten me where I am today.” He encourages young artists to do the same and to stick to their unique styles.

While 85Royaltee creates different styles of music, he enjoys writing and performing emotional, more personal, songs the most. “Writing is therapeutic to me. I write about things that I’ve been through personally. This allows people to connect with me as an artist. I can make party music but I make love songs, too. There’s that pain I express too. I would rather have a fan connect and relate with me more than anything else.”

85Royaltee is not letting Covid slow him down, and has released two dope singles, “3am” and “Tryna Touch A Mili.” Living by his motto, “don’t stress over what you can’t change,” he has successfully adapted to the music industry and is headed to the top of the charts at an international level.

Straight Official Magazine Sit Down: Lil Bae | @lilbae33

#GetSOM via @djspins

Lil Bae (Photo Cred: Lil Bae IG page)

Recently we got the chance to catch up with North Carolina recording artist Lil Bae who is heating & shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

DJ -What is your Stage Name? Please tell us where you’re from and what first got you interested in the entertainment industry?

LB – Lil Bae, from Fort Mill, SC. The entertainment industry interested me when I saw the different people you get to connect with. From producers, dancers, videographers, DJ’s, entrepreneurs and most importantly fans. Music is my passion, my life, but to meet people who can relate and love it is amazing to me.

DJ- Who and/or what inspires you to create?

LB- My inspiration is my life and experiences. I want my music to be a reflection of myself so my fans can actually relate. I make music with substance behind it. I just keep up with what is trending.

DJ- How would you describe your sound?

LB- My sound is simply authentic. Old school rap with a new Flava. My sound is who I am. My cadence separates me from most female artists out there. My sound resonates with the soul. It is refreshing.

DJ- What is your creative process like?

LB- My creative process is as follows every time; I start off working out early in the day to clear my head. I listen to different types of beats until one really grabs my attention. I write the hook and build from there. Once I’ve gotten the first verse and the hook down pack delivery-wise, I record a demo. Depending on the mood and the way “Life” goes I will finish it that day or come back to it in a week. Then it’s studio time.

DJ- What artist(s) would you like to collaborate with?

LB- I would love to collaborate with Missy Elliott and Soulja Boy. I would be able to attack both generations at one time and the synergy would be amazing.

DJ- If you could open a show for any artist who would it be?

LB- If I could open up for any artist it would be Missy Elliot, of course. Also, I would say Lil Baby. The messages behind his music are deeper than most rappers and I respect that.

DJ- What is one message you would give to your supporters?

LB- “Find yourself and stay true to you. Every day is a test. Focus on passing that and just go with the flow of life. Remember, always smile.”

DJ- What is the most useless talent you have?

LB- My most useless talent would be playing the recorder. I learned how in elementary school and can really play but never do.

DJ- What would you be doing right now, if you weren’t doing music?

LB- If I was not doing music, I would be creating a skincare line for sensitive skin baddies like myself. Being the best esthetician and a BOMB MOM! Eventually, I would find the music.

DJ-Who are some artists you admire and why?

LB- Missy Elliott. She remained authentic. She was different coming out at that time and she accepted that. Her sound, style, creativity and poise. Ciara. She is a killer dancer. The way she markets her music by incorporating a dance with it has made her level up.

DJ- What is the best advice you’ve been given?

LB- “The only thing that matters is now. You cannot change your past, you are not in your future, but in this moment you have the ability to create everything you want. So focus.” I have been following this advice since the beginning of the year and I can say this last quarter has been great to me.

(Photo Cred: Lil Bae IG page)

Find yourself and stay true to you. Everyday is a test. Focus on passing that and just go with the flow of life. Remember, always smile.

Lil Bae

DJ- If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

LB- I would change everything about the industry. Artist development mainly. That would clear up the roster for ready independents.

DJ- What’s next for you, where would you like to see yourself in the next year?

LB- I will continue to make relatable, longevity music. Connecting with my fans and building myself as an artist. In the next year, I will be the artist everyone wants to meet. I will not only be busy and booked with shows and interviews, but I will also be speaking to the masses about mental health. Being the voice of the people in the music industry.

DJ- What is your social media? How can people get in contact with you?

LB- @lil.ba33 on all platforms. Also linktr.ee/Lil.Bae will take you to any Social Media Link you need.
