Lul Jaida

Welcome to The Watchlist: Conversation With a Vision where Straight Official’s own DJ Gea chops it up with a purpose. Lul Jaida is a trendsetting artist who is providing music and entertainment at a high level.

Q&A WITH LUL JAIDA

DJ GEA: Let our readers know where you from & how did the city you lived in motivate and push you?

Lul Jaida: I’m from the south suburbs of Chicago.  I also, lived in Chicago for a couple years as well. Where I come from, it’s like I get the best of both worlds, living in the city showed me a different type of survival to make me grind harder from what I was normally used to growing up in the burbs.

How did you get started in music? What was it about music that caught your attention?

I always had a thing for music growing up, I used to write songs when I was in middle school, but I started making music after I figured out I had the talent and a lot ppl supported/ believed in me. So I just kept going & I was dedicated to getting better at it.

Where did the name come from?

My name is already Jaida, I just added the “Lul” on it. I used the Lul instead of Lil because a lot of ppl already had lil in front of there name. Even with my name being Lul Jaida but it’s still Big Jaida not the Little one!

Lul Jaida

How long have you been doing music? What has been your biggest accomplishment so far?

I’ve been doing music consistently for 2 years but I started making music & dropping in 2020. My biggest accomplishment so far is getting my music spent regularly on WGCI & 92.3. Also, having over 120k+ streams on one of my latest single “Back Seat” audio, as well as other records I have out. However the “BACK SEAT” Music Video coming sooner than they think!

SHIFTING GEARS

What do you bring to the game that no other artist is bringing now?

I’m in my own lane, I’m not following behind the next person. My work ethic, I’m one of the hardest working female artist buzzing out of our market. My voice/sound is different. I’m one of the only unsigned INDEPENDENT artists from Chicago with a whole team.. 2 managers, my own DJ, and dancers. & I’m moving around state to state with no deal! Basically building my own machine in the game.

In 2025 how do you plan to set the tone?

I plan to keep dropping fire music with visuals & keep giving my fans the best shows wherever I perform. I’m going to continue moving around til everybody across the world know my name & who I am.

What are some things you aspire to do with your music?

I aspire to be able to make ppl dance (not twerk) actually dance with choreography, to motivate & inspire others, to get happy when you hear my music and have ppl to be able to relate to things we both may have went through in our past.

Lul Jaida

LUL JAIDA STAY LIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LETS TALK MUSIC

Describe your style of music?

I have multiple styles of music but I would say my style of music is like lit, baddie, bossy, fun, confident, getting money, freaky type of music.. but also dance and pop records too, etc.

What’s your process for writing a song?

I like to listen to a beat, then form the beat as I write my lyrics. Then go to the Stu for 6-12 hour sessions and knock out my songs.

Have you had any live shows and if so tell me about your favorite performance?

I’ve had so many live performances, I just did 14 stages at SXSW. But my most favorite performance would probably be when I performed at WIU. It was so lit, so much love shown. I’d definitely go back and perform again!

Lul Jaida

What single are you pushing and how did it come about? How long did it take you to write it? Who is the producer? Is there a visual for the song?

I’m pushing my 2 singles “Backseat” & “on dummy”. “Back Seat” is produced by international Ukraine producers @djeverb & @rocco_dj. I went based off the title and the beat which made the song easy to write, and I described my experience/ relatable things. It only took me a hour to write. The visual is already shot and will be coming soon!

“On Dummy” is produced by @rjaeonnatrack. Once I heard the beat, it made me feel like I was on dummy lol. The beat so hard, and it go crazyyy. I wanted to talk my stuff on it. The visual is out now featuring A.R. the mermaid out of Memphis. It took me like 20-30 minutes to write this verse and hook.

IN CLOSING

Besides music, are there any other ventures you are currently sewing your seeds in?

Yes, right now I’m getting ready to launch my merchandise line! & I want to start my own makeup/cosmetics line, as well as other business later down the line!

Where do you see yourself in the next 3 to 5 years?

I see myself performing on bigger stages like rolling loud/big jam/summer smash & performing in different countries! Being nationally known! Working with bigger artists, having everybody in Lul Jaida merch. Stepping into different lanes and genres of music.

Meet TheDRSAlien

Pennsylvania native and recording artist TheDRSAlien has embarked on a mission to produce artistic and creative music that resonates with his audience. His latest single, titled “Act Now,” marks a significant step in his rebranding journey. DJ Spins sat down with TheDRSAlien to gain insight into his creative process and explore the thoughts behind his artistry.

Q&A With TheDRSAlien

How did you come up with your stage name? Tell us where you’re from and what first got you interested in the entertainment industry?

How I got my stage name was just like everyone else, you know. I wanted something unique that’ll stand out. So just being the person that I am and always wanting and trying to be different than everyone else. I thought to myself, what has those similarities that makes everyone their own person.

So I came up with “Alien,” but then that was just too bland. So I added the initials of my slogan (DRS), which stands for “Dreams Require Sacrifice.” Putting the two together I came up with “TheDRSAlien” and that’s stuck with me for as long as I could remember now.  I’m originally from Brooklyn, NY, but moved around a lot when I was young. I currently live in Temple, Pennsylvania.

What got me interested in the music industry was watching Usher as a youngin & just loving everything he was doing. From singing to dancing to acting and performing. I knew that I wanted to live that type of life and have that lifestyle because it looks fun and entertaining. It also makes people happy at the same time. Seeing the creativity of it all just sparked a huge interest for me. No matter what I won’t give up. For as long as it takes to get me their and I’m loving the process of my journey.

The Creative Process

Who and/or what inspires you to create?

I think what inspires me to create is the love for creating itself. It’s kinda like meditation in a way for me. To zone in and really listen and focus on what the beat is saying. Then catchin’ that crazy flow which is then what gets me hype!

If you got a crazy flow it doesn’t matter what you really saying. It’s gonna sound crazy when you record it, but then you know when the words start spilling out and hearing what your mind can create is a deep and awesome feeling for me.

I’ve had times where I wanted to give up but couldn’t because it just kept calling me back is what keeps me inspired to keep going is that the fact that I can’t get away from it even if I wanted to because it’s my soul speaking through your speakers at that point and my music makes people feel good, happy and energized with fun energy.

How would you describe your sound?

I would describe my sound to be fun, diverse, energizing, soulful, artistic, and overall great vibes to be able to play it 20-50 years from now and still have the same vibes like if it dropped yesterday.

What is your creative process like?

My creative process starts off by first rolling me some of that good stuff then going through finding the beat, catching the flow and just practicing that flow a few times before I start my writing process but first I usually start with the bridge/hook/chorus then write the verses.

Sometimes I wait till 4am to wake up and write because my brain seems to lock in a lot better at that time for some reason. So whenever I write I try to do it in the am, but for a feature I sometimes don’t have that option. I’m also able to just tap in when I really need to but for my own I’ll take more time.

TheDRSAlien

What artist(s) would you like to collaborate with? I few artists I would like to collab with would be Usher, Chris Brown, Kid Ink, Lil Wayne, Ace Hood, Wiz Khalifa, Russ, Tory Lanez, Stella StandingBear, Future, Bow Wow, 50 Cent, Big Sean, & Drake and my reason is because I grew up listening so some of these artist and I also feel like we have a similar sound so to make a track together would be some crazy work.

If you could open a show for any artist who would it be? I would really love to open for Chris Brown but any of those artist I named I’ll go for as well.

TheDRSAlien

Shifting Gears

What is one message you would give to your supporters?

My message to my supporters would be to be patient, keep on believing even when things get hard, enjoy the journey, stay as focused as you possibly can, slow motion is better than no motion, stay true to who your are and always keep God first.

What is the most useless talent you have?

The most useless talent I have would be the fact I can flip my eyelids out and can touch my nose with my tongue lol.

What would you be doing right now, if you weren’t doing music?

If I wasn’t doing music I would be a Barber/Entrepreneur.

Who are some artists you admire and why?  I admire artist who knew how to make it in the industry without a label and still seen major success. Being independent I know how hard it can be and the fact they made it happen is inspiring. Even those that did sign but were able to get out at the end and do their own thing. Take Russ & Tory Lanez for example, even Chris Brown did it and he was damn near blackballed but still selling out arenas till this day.

TheDRSAlien

I tell myself all the time to just take life slow and keep it all in God’s timing because only he knows what’s next for me. I can’t fight the process so enjoy the journey.

TheDRSAlien

New Music Incoming

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

To stop encouraging murder music and women degrading themselves to be the top sellers and bring back artists who really have art/talent.

You released new music this year! Tell us about the new project.

So my single “Act Now” was produced by Cor Mill (one of my favorite producers) and engineered by my bro (homie) Hector aka H and dropped it in 2024. This song is meant for you to pop out with that boss energy and show the world you the one and this is how you act, or even having fun with your friends at any event. A very high energizing record you can play at anytime anywhere.

What’s next for you, where would you like to see yourself in the next year?

What’s next for me is to continue to stay consistent with my catalog and start putting some shows together and hit the road.
