STRAIGHT OFFICIAL SITS DOWN WITH Angel Faye Russell

1. What is your Name?  where you’re from and what first got you interested in the entertainment  industry? 

Angel Faye Russell  

I was born in Montgomery AL, grew up on Long Island New York. I started in the church choir. I would watch different female artist on Soul Train. We started a neighborhood group with myself & 2 other teen girls. We  

would do songs and pretend to be the group from the movie Sparkle. I  always knew I wanted to be an artist. 

2. Who and/or what inspires you to create? 

I would hang around the studio in Hempstead N.Y. where Flava Flav aka  Rico Drayton would record. I learned the basics about recording. I started  to write & compose at that time.. 

3. How would you describe your sound? 

R&B Soul music with bluesy lyrics. 

4. What is your creative process like? 

I might hear a beat in my head or something happening around me that  motivates me to put a song together. I start with a hip hop drum beat, a  southern soul style baseline and blues type lyrics. 

5. What artist(s) would you like to collaborate with? 

Adel, Mary J Blige, John Legend,, Lenny Williams, Charlie Wilson, Her,  Kingpin Skinny & Drake to name a few. 

6. What is one message you would give to your supporters? Thank you God for blessing me with my fans & people in the music industry  who believe in my music & my unique musical style. You all are  appreciated.. 

7. What is the most talent/skill you have that most people don’t know  about? 

I wrote all the music, with exception to one track, and lyrics for both A  Taste Of Angel & Angel’s Soul Kitchen CDs. I also play the keyboard just a  little. 

8. What would you be doing right now, if you weren’t doing music?

Volunteering for different community organizations and working in the  radio industry  

9. Who are some artists/people you admire and why? 

My management team Joe Mason and Vincent Berry. They are faith filled.  They constantly encourage me to believe in myself. I also admire the  courage of Mary J Blige. She has endured hurt and pain, but continues to be  successful in the industry. 

10. What is the best advice you’ve been given? 

Always pray & believe in yourself. You are your biggest fan & If plan A  doesn’t work, have a plan B & C. Never stop until you accomplish your goals. 

11. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be? I would add Southern Soul music as a genre with Billboard charts, the  Grammys and other areas of the music industry. 

12. What’s next for you, where would you like to see yourself in the next  year? 

I would love to tour overseas when the pandemic improves. I would like to  collaborate and tour with other artist. I am also working on completing a  couple of albums.
