STRAIGHT OFFICIAL: How did you come up with your stage name? Tell us where you’re from and what first got you interested in the entertainment industry?


J-MANE: Stage name derived from my actual name Jermane. I’m from White Sulphur Springs West Virginia and my passion for making music got me into the industry.

My life and events surrounding my life. Losses and gains trials and tribulations.

Kentucky Dom has been professionally making music for four years. Spending the last decade dabbling in music and artist management has led him to many successful ventures. Being born and raised in Kentucky sparked a passion for making music and changing the world. He has grown deep roots and connections with people from all walks of life. From traveling to foreign countries to performing at rodeos and making music with other artists. This background inspired him to want to bridge cultures together. “One for the Country ” breaks the mold for the typical stereotype, inspiring and encouraging people to live the life they love regardless of the typical standards. Kentucky Dom’s latest song, “Cowfolk B” featuring Taylor Hogan, will be released summer 2022. Also in the works is a new single from Kentucky Dom and Coffey Anderson called, “Kick Back”. One For The Country was the desire to show people that artists of color can still be about the country, rodeo and things of rural living. Life and music doesn’t have to be determined by the color of your skin. You do not need to fit a certain stereotype to enjoy the things you love. With also having a hip hop cultured background, I just want to bring my two personal cultures together as one to share with the world.

JOVAN MARIE is an R&B artist on the rise. Straight Official had the pleasure of catching up with her to chop it up about her moves and motives.

Q&A WITH JOVAN

Introduce yourself to our readers. What first got you interested in the entertainment industry?

My name is Jovan Marie and I was born in Vallejo, California. I began singing
at a young age. While I noticed early I had a talent and passion, I didn’t think much into the industry itself. I focused on the magic and freedom I heard in every voice on the radio.

Who and/or what inspires you to create?

In my musical journey my mother and my community are the constants. I loved and idolized artists like Prince, Whitney, Mariah and Beyonce. I would be dishonest if I did not mention that
everyone I’ve ever heard from any genre has inspired me to create. My gift inspires me and challenges me as well.

How would you describe your sound?

I am very grateful that I have my own sound. I’m classically trained and have dedicated many years to Christian chorus , worship and solo music. Over the years I focused on diversity. I appreciate the art form itself.
It allowed me to gravitate towards all genres which in turn, helped me to become a versatile artist.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS

What was your process in coming up with this song?

For Real Good Love , the lyric content came from the heart. I set up a session with Coe.b out of Los Angeles. I had a 2 hour slot time and my objective was to complete the song in that time. On Passion and Pressure he produced and engineered the song for me at his apartment. I took it home and knocked it out. I was inspired to add some Hip-Hop flavor to the track.

If you could add somebody to the song who would it be and why?

I would only choose Go Head Boy . It would be a woman who empowered to release her anger yet take a humble route. It would be nice if she was from the Bay Area. Or simply Beyonce.

My spirit and experiences shapes all of my expressions. I’m observant and sensitive. I express big. It’s just me.

Who is Jovan Marie outside of music ?

Outside of music I’m a mother. A 9 years old girl gift with many talents as well. She sings and creates music. It’s an honor to support and encourage her. I work in hospitality and have educated myself in financial literacy and multiple streams of income and investments.

What’s the craziest thing a fan said to you ?

The craziest thing fan said to me was, “I’ll drink your bath water and wipe myself in your sweat.” They said it would give them my powers (laughs)

I will never stop doing music or performing. It’s in me to thrive off my expression. Longevity in it means life.

Is there something you would change if you could with your project or song ?

I would always desire a team to assist with perfecting the sound, having more fund and minds involved brings more energy and success to any project.

What’s next for you, where would you like to see yourself next year?

I’d like to see investors, a deal with a major label, collabs with up and coming artist and established. More rapports with talented musicians and producers. I want to perform on stages where people come to see me and
other gifted artists.

This is a fun question. If stranded on an island, what 4 things would you have to have ?

I would have to say camping gears, form of communication, protection and food.

What would you tell a person not to do in the music biz ?

Never let your ego get in front of your passion.

Upcoming music article Music artist Harrison Forbes Morgan a.k.a. Unrulyshewrote is a Florida-based music artist and co-owner of the Independent Record Label, Speak Greek.

Back in the early 20th century, people questioned the monotonous pattern of music. The rebellious 20s which we refer to, 1920s made an argument that music should be mixed and matched, different combinations to be tried out, a mix of genres. Their argument provided the world with a term: Musical Experimentation, Avant-garde which simply means to explore all the ideas in music. Today most musicians take a route of Avant-garde music. Unrulyshewrote is one such Music Artist. He produces classic music with slick visuals, quite the way this Generation likes it. A retro-modern style of music that can be enjoyed while taking a long drive or a stroll in the park.

Music Career

Although still referred to as the next big thing in the music industry, he already has three albums to his name. He shared a feverish passion for music since childhood. Officially entering the world of music in 2013. He is the epitome of freeform experimentation. With melody at the core of his approach, he carves out timeless beats that bury their way into the subconscious while steering clear of predictable clichés. Soulful and a hotchpotch of different instruments that soothes every ear it reaches.

Unrulyshewrote credits his elder brother who also is co-owner of their brand “speak Greek”, for encouraging him to start rapping. He hasn’t stopped since. Beat melodies and vehement lyrics are a constant in all his music albums. He and his elder brother, Apollo are independently led.

Rhyme It

Officially known for his impeccable rapping skills, however, with almost four albums to his name, He has covered different genres, a mix of rap, hip hop, pop, and EDM.His first album, Hope was released in 2018 comprising 10 hopeful tracks. His second album was released in 2019, yet again a collection of 10 mind-blowing tracks. Unrulyshewrote released his third album, MorningStar in 2020 which truly lives up to its name brightening up the days of everyone who listens to it.

The Artist of Modern Era

Unrulyshewrote epitomizes the essence of the modern era. He is working on his 4th album, Anxiety under the production label of jagisdead.  As the name itself suggests, he is addressing the prevalent issue of mental health. The album is all about the ripple effect of emotions. He is making music that is driven by a desire to motivate, inspire, comfort, and spread love and joy to all those that hear it. His ability to hit specific music notes that resonate with his fans is why it is apt to label him the next big thing in the music industry. He is a preacher of mankind and a strong proponent of spreading awareness through music and song in this title.

While talking about his new album, Unrulyshewrote shared with media:  “I want to devote my song to mental health awareness.  Not everyone is perfect and we battle our Demons every day, but there still is hope.” “The world will know who Unrulyshewrote is one day, as everything will be unruly”, he further added.

T-Quest Music Review: Sir-Prize Recently I had the great pleasure of interviewing Hip Hop Artist Sir-Prize on The T-Quest Show with DJ ILL NINO. We all had such a great time chopping it up with Sir-Prize on the show! He was professional, full of energy, knowledgeable and very talented. Sir-Prize is an artist that many tastemakers of the industry would be honored to work with.

As soon as I heard his record ” Go Get It” I knew it was without a doubt, a hit. Instantly I could tell that he was a New Yorker. He had the whole east coast swag in his song, from the beat to the lyrics. Real rap, real hip hop but commercial enough to be marketable in many areas . His song will be in rotation for a while. Sir-Prize is the right name for him because I was definitely surprised with his overall total package as an artist. He is most assuredly poised to leave a mark on the music world. How did you get started in music?
My father would play records and let me dig through the crates.

Who did you listen to growing Up?
I listened to Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, James Brown & Michael Jackson. He was my biggest influence. Rap music took over and I listened to Kool G Rap Rakim & KRS-One. I moved to Long Beach and listened to Snoop Dogg, The Dogg Pound, DJ Quik, NWA, Eazy-E and Tupac.

How would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard you?
I’m like Snoop Dogg Jay z Jeezy and Young Dolph all mixed together.

What is your new song Summa about?
It’s about paying homage to the city I grew up in and the city I was raised in (Compton & Long Beach). I wanted to pay homage to the greats that came before me. (Snoop and Dre).

What are your plans for the rest of 2022?
Well, honestly, it’s to continue to create records doing what I love to do which is rap. I want to create more influence and cut through some of this clutter by marketing and promoting myself.

What are something that people don’t know about you. Do you have any hidden talents?
Yeah, I cook very well. My street dudes can understand what I mean. I’m something like a professional chef.

Do you have any shout outs?
Yeah, I want to shout out my God most importantly. Without God I be nowhere. I want to shout out my family and fans. They’re my major support system. Y’all got me here. This one’s for you!!
