Bobby O’Jay, Memphis Radio DJ, passes at 68.

Tuesday May 03, 2022 will be a day the citizens of Memphis will never forget. The news of 68 year old Bobby O’Jay passing shocked us all.

As word got around, the sad news could be read on various social media platforms. His fans flooded their timelines and stories with Rest in Peace messages as well as sincerest condolences to his family.

Bobby O’Jay loved Memphis and his fans. He spent 38 of his 40 plus years in radio at WDIA. If you tuned in to his regular show you would surely enjoy his voice and signature introduction. Long time listeners learned he was more than a Radio DJ, but an amazing husband and loving father.

This time last year Bobby O’Jay was celebrating being inducted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame. It’s truly a blessing the world was able to honor him for his hard work and dedication.

While the airwaves may never be the sound, his legacy and memories will forever live in the hearts of his fans around the world.

On behalf of Straight Official Magazine and Fleet DJs Coalition we would like to express our sincerest condolences to the family of Bobby O’Jay. May his work in and out of the studio provide a positive impact on us all for years to come.
