Meet the Artist: JDesiree | @jdesiree_music

JDesiree

WHO IS JDESIREE??

R&B artist, JDesiree, is from Cincinnati, Ohio, and has been singing her entire life. She began with Rhythm Express, and spent her youth performing. By the age of 19, she joined a cover band that launched her career in music.

JDesiree’s history in music doesn’t end there. Not only was she a background and lead singer of the cover band, The Ingrid Rachel Project, she also started her own band. She would later join the band, Plair and Friends. JDesiree was a part of Plair and Friends for about two years before beginning her solo career.

With these unique experiences on stage, it was only a matter of time before she began writing her own songs. She already had a collection of fans who constantly asked for her music. Though new to this realm of the industry, it gave her audience an opportunity to get familiar with her.

JDESIREE FINDS HER WAY

“When you perform on stage for so long, you get accustomed to hearing yourself a certain way. On top of that, I was singing other people’s music, adapting to who they are instead of who I am. She now has a better understanding of who she is as an artist. “I’m doing work in the studio and recording my own songs. I’m able to be vulnerable and transparent about who I am as an artist.

JDesiree has been influenced by artists such as Jill Scott, Anita Baker, and Toni Braxton. She has always loved the late ’80s & 90’s R&B and soul and grew up around incredible talent. Her family includes The Isley Brothers and her father, who wrote the song “Joy” for Teddy Pendergrass.

I am inspired by everything around me because I have always been surrounded by incredible music.

JDesiree

Prior to releasing her first single, “2 Wrongs”, JDesiree had been in the studio for a year and spent that time exploring her own style of music with the help of Ariel Betts. Ariel wrote “2 Wrongs” and co-wrote “No Clothes.”

During this process, JDesiree gained confidence in having her own voice and grew into the artist that she is today.

“I wanted people to have something to go home with and I really wanted to find myself in music. When I dropped my first single, I was terrified. It was so new to me and I was worried about people liking my voice and, honestly, the real me. Once I started getting the reception from my first single, that fear went away. I am proud of the accomplishments I’ve made so far and the people I have reached.”

IN CLOSING

As a solo artist, JDesiree is only at the beginning of her career. For now, she wants to gradually introduce people to who she is and allow them to feel her vibe. With a unique rollout in mind, fans can expect teasers, singles, and even music videos. She is not only exploring the lyrical world but the visual side of music as well. With a degree in Cosmetology, she’s able to use her experience as a MUA to step out of comfort zones and in front of the camera.
