THE RETURN OF PEN GRIFFEY

Happy Monday! Y’all know I’m always going to shoutout the 502 especially, because lately they’ve really been putting on. Although it seems like this Louisville artist always leaves his fans on read, he’s returned! BRYSON TILLER released ‘Killer Instinct 2’, which is a sequel to his 2011 Halloween mixtape by the same name. It very much gives Trap Soul Halloween, so let’s get into it.

via Flaunt Magazine

This new release consists of 13 tracks including Tiller’s rendition of Normani’s “Wild Side” and Chris Brown’s “Heat”. The TrapSoul creator also only features fellow Kentucky artists like Julius Keith, Marz, and producer Rob “Saint” Calloway. These folks made ART fit into 28 minutes. (And can talk about the Diddy intro on Money Dance?)

Ima keep showing them what Louisville sounds like…”

@juliuskeithmusic

Where’s Bryson Tiller Been?

Tiller took to the internet and assured fans that new albums are on the way citing his grandmother’s death as his reason to resist stagnancy. This is certainly reflected in the first track entitled “First Call”, which appears to be a conversation with himself about getting back on track. He follows up in the calls after to remind young Tiller to keep going, also revealing that the second voice is future Tiller. Bryson is now gearing up for his long-awaited album Serenity, the follow-up to last year’s Anniversary.

Celebrating the anniversary with you guys last year really helped me fall in love with making music… because to be honest, for a while there I really didn’t want to be bothered with anything music related…”

What I love about this project is how raw it is! Bryson was just honest through and through, in addition like he said, he just came to be an artist and create with no expectations. He did just that! That “Kentucky Shit” was just dope in a right of its own because this is honestly a song I’ve been waiting for from him. Oh, and the Marz vocals – YES!

If you haven’t heard it yet, tap in here. After you listen, tell me what the best track was! Take listen to the first volume of the mixtape here.

The Rose In Harlem on Her Last Rose Petal Tour | @teyanataylor

THE PETALS ARE FALLING

Happy Monday! I have some bittersweet news for everybody. TEYANA TAYLOR aka The Beyoncé of my life has announced some of the last days we can see her perform. Admittedly, I’ve never been to one of her concerts, but if this is the last chance, I HAVE TO! Forget the greatest hits and the reunion tours – I need her now! Watch her conquer the entire building in this festival appearance in this next video. Then, let me know what city you’ll be in so we can go to the concert!

THE AUNTIE OF CREATIVITY IS GOING ON HER FINAL MUSIC TOUR!

HOW DO YOU KNOW TEYANA TAYLOR?

Some may know her as “Spike Tee”, “Mrs. Shumpert”, or even “the brat from Sweet 16” – whatever you call her, show some respect when you mention Teyana Me Shay Jacqueli Shumpert-Taylor’s name. This woman is the threat of all threats. Even if you don’t know all of the things she does, you know one out of being the singer, songwriter, choreographer, actress, director, model, mom and wife she is. We’ve seen her grow into an impeccable creative force from the time she was 16 years old and now she’s fearless. If you still don’t know what’s up… that’s exactly why she’s doing this tour.

How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard….. However for every goodbye God makes the next hello closer.”

@teyanataylor

WHY IS THIS TEYANA’S LAST TOUR?

Teyana Taylor (Photo Cred: VH1)

This year, Teyana announced that she would be calling it quits on her music tip. There’s always been a conversation of why Teyana Taylor is not as “that bitch” as she should be. Is it because she’s too dark or outspoken? Is she taking the wrong roles for her image? Whatever the reason, there should be no reason. The 30-year-old “Bare Wit Me” artist has said herself that she has to take a break for her mental health and for her children per the New York Daily News. So until she’s released from her label – she’s done. That was the warning and apparently they haven’t acted on their end so here we are. Apparently there is a lack of promotion from the G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam team. Just look at her most recently released Spotify number. Have you seen any type of promo for her latest album, “The Album”? I didn’t think so.

I constantly feel alone, I constantly feel under appreciated, I constantly feel failed, there is no push.”

@TeyanaTaylor

AT THIS POINT IN TEYANA’S CAREER

Within the last week, Ms. Taylor announced additional shows. The good thing out of all of this is that we can still see her work through various other mediums. She was recently appointed the creative director of Pretty Little Thing and has been doing bug things with that decision. She’s been seen with some pretty dope celebrities thus far. Her collaborations, regarding any creative capacity, include the likes Big Sean, Kanye West, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Big Latto, Elton John, and others you may have never expected.

Come out and watch me, leave it all out on the stage… One last time… Just for you & as my last rose petal falls, I say farewell….”

@TeyanaTaylor

My heart goes out to the whole #TeamTeyana because this was an emotional post for me! If no other blog will say it, I will – GIVE MRS. SHUMPERT HER FLOWERS!

The Lit Lounge Tour Is Coming To A City Near You!

#GetSOM via @mochathemack

September 24-26, 2021 – The Lit Lounge Tour is set to kick off this weekend in Jacksonville, FL. In previous years, the tour was primarily focused on showcasing music, however this year it will include a one night only comedy show, club after parties, the introduction of Victor George Vodka, and an overall impactful message to share.

Theodore “Wildman Teddy T” Taylor, on-air personality and founder of “A Nu Foundation Trust”, has partnered with several Florida Fleet DJ’s at radio stations, nightclubs, and businesses to put on a successful tour. It will travel through various cities with the intention of educating people on the use of medical marijuana for health benefits and positive economic influence in communities. All of this will also be integrated in the upcoming docu-series, “Walk on the Wildside”.

We’ve been getting high from marijuana for years. Now we are creating a positive purpose for this healing instrument, so that people can help in its preservation. Let’s stay healthy to get wealthy.”

Wildman Teddy T

The Lit Lounge Tour launched back in March of 2020 in Plantation, FL and traveled to Miami Gardens with a pop up event. You can relive the latest tour dates here. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about medical marijuana from a variety of marijuana vendors and enthusiasts. The tour is set to stop in Jacksonville this Friday at Eva’s Sports Bar and Grill (736 A Philip Randolph Blvd). Let’s Talk King of Kentucky | @est.gee

If I ain’t a young shiner then what do you call that?”

@est.gee

#GetSOM via @mochathemack

Earlier this year the “Bigger Than Life or Death” rapper was cited countless times as one of 2021’s breakout rap stars, and rightfully so. Signed to Yo Gotti’s CMG, EST Gee is credited doing features with the best of them – Lil Baby, Moneybagg Yo, Future, Lil Durk, and 42 Dugg just to name a few. People love EST Gee because he raps about some pretty dark topics, but in a way that truly embodies modern musicality.

We ain’t got no pro team in Louisville, this a brick town”

EST Gee

Now, most people who think of Louisville, Kentucky think of bourbon, racehorses, and Muhammad Ali. Lately in the 20’s, Jack Harlow and now EST Gee, have been running the Bluegrass State. Admittedly, I was not a fan at first, but I rooted for him anyway because we’re originally from the same city. It caught my attention listening to his collab with Moneybagg, which is one of my favorites in the game right now, but still I wasn’t convinced he was the star that Yo Gotti was making him out to be. I recently got a chance to really review the album and honestly, I was upset with myself for sleeping on him for so long. I did some further research and had a fan girl moment when I found out that his birthday is the day before mine – he’s automatically my favorite.

On a more serious note, the “young shiner” was described as being “apathetic” towards his fast rising career. I won’t quote it as a zodiac attribute, because like he said in a Pitchfork interview, “He’s seen it all and thought of it all.” When you get the chance to travel as much as he has, you realize that everywhere is really the same – some places are just flashier or more hood or country than the next. EST Gee has the potential to make it all the way. He used to play football before his rap career took off and let’s just say “he’s good at everything he does.”

Kash Doll (Photo Cred: Cassisus Life)

F*ck that you deserve the world sh*t… cause I know I do, I deserve the stars and the planets too!”

Kash Doll, “Single & Happy”

Summer is almost over but the vibes are not! Kash Doll gifted us with her new hit “Single & Happy” and I don’t think we knew we needed this, but THANK YOU KASH! The 29-year-old “Rich Hoochie” rapper teamed up with Eric Bellinger and Wale to create this liberating anthem for both men and women. It is currently available on all platforms and it’s such a feel-good record that you have no choice but to listen to it over and over again.

I can’t speak for how single or happy you are, but what I do know is that Kash, Eric, and Wale went off on this track. No matter how you feel about any of the participating artists, you can’t help but to bop your head and sing along. The metaphors, lyricism, and delivery in this work are nothing short of fantastic!

A woman tried to curve me, she flourished in mediocrity.”

Wale, “Single & Happy”

You can listen to the song on your favorite streaming service, but if you just can’t wait to hear this 3 minutes of a boss anthem – click below for the lyric video down below!

Kash Doll recently took to twitter saying, “I make music for me and women like me…. I like sex but I love money more.” Ms. Doll. We stan.
