Early Rising Star

Discovered talent at 3 by her daycare provider Mrs. Mary Moye, she had begun to train West with her vocals by practicing the song “People Get Ready’. West started touching people all over with her vocals. It really didn’t hit her until she was 18 that she wanted to lead a career in singing. Her support system has always been a strong factor in her choice to sing as a career.

West began singing at an early age in the choir, local churches, community events, talent shows, schools, and other events that brought the people together. Through her performance, West loves to spread love through her positivity and uplifting spirit. She loves to use her voice to uplift the community. West reached #1 on the Blues Music Billboard charts with her song “Work It” in May of 2023.

Released in 2018, West’s first single “Keep Pushing”. This song inspired her through her own personal experience with depression which lead to the need to want to help others fight through their trials and tribulations. Releasing other music like “Stop Looking”, “You Betta Go”, “It’s the Weekend”, “Reach”, “Work It”, “Shake It Baby”, “The Mac”, “This Feeling”, “Meet Me at the Trailride”, and “Cowgirl Ride”, West continues to blow our minds.

Tracey Michelle Talks With DJ Pressure About Healthy Dating

Tracey Michelle

Meet Tracey Michelle

Tracey Michelle is from Bolton, MS and now lives in Clinton, MS. Her goal is to create a place to encourage safe and healthy dating here in Jackson, MS. She has an event on May 20th at @7pm located at 5738 HWY 80 W Jackson, MS 39209 for singles to come out to mix and mingle with the prepose of moving towards a healthy long term relationship. Tracey and I both had been in unhealthy marriages that lead to being single parents but neither did she nor I stop there. It created an opportunity and space for self-reflection and understanding of our purpose which allowed this conversation to take place.

Are you single or are you dating? If you are single, could it be because of the challenges of actually finding someone who is compatible with your personality and beliefs? Do you find yourself losing faith in believing that you could possibly be in a healthy and happy relationship with an opposite or same-sex individual? I am here to tell you that there is someone out there for you and not to lose hope. During this interview, we uncovered so many tips on dating and red flags to look for to avoid an unhealthy relationship. The discussion covered healthy dating activities, how healthy dating affects your health, what unhealthy dating leads to, and signs to look for when dating.

Tracey Michelle With DJ Pressure

Healthy Dating Activities

There are so many things we can do to help get connected with our partners but seems to run out of ideas. The activities include:

  • Dancing
  • Rock Climbing
  • Hiking
  • Yoga
  • Staying Home (dinner, Netflix, game night)
  • Talking over Wine and Chocolate (home, lake, park)
  • Weekend getaways
  • Bowling
  • Horseback riding
  • Going on Couples Retreats

Dating Affecting Your Health

Dating healthy and helping lead to a healthier and long life. Have you noticed that when you were in a happy space in your previous relationship it helped you handle things a lot differently because you were more calm in your responses? Dating gives you something to look forward to and to be happy about seeing that person or being around that person so your mind is always on “cloud nine” as they say. There is no room for negativity because you are in your happy space. When you are in this space it helps lower the blood pressure and stress hormones that would result in anxiety, anger, or other unhealthy issues in relation to your body and mind. On the positive side, releasing those stress hormones can be done by holding hands, hugging, and having a healthy but active sexual relationship with your partner. You don’t want to end up a Madea, do you? LOL

What Unhealthy Dating Leads To

  • Depression
  • Financial Issues
  • Abusive Relationships
  • Also Failed or Broken Close Family and Friends Relationships

It is important to acknowledge the signs of this type of behavior sooner than later. The later you wait to address it and move on is actually the worse the situation will get. You will find yourself in situations that are very difficult to get out of or maybe even life-threatening. Never allow a person the control to take you away from those who make you who you are and play a huge part in your life. This is a method used to isolate you resulting in manipulation, control, and neglect of your emotional well-being.

Top 10 Signs To Look For When Dating

  • a person who is condescending
  • jealous/ always dependent on you
  • neglectful of your emotional/ physical needs
  • abusive
  • cheater/ unfaithful
  • moody most of the time
  • inconsiderate
  • selfish/self-absorbed
  • sexual attractions to others/ a person who sexualizes others
  • someone who withholds sex as a punishment or to control you

All of these are very important signs to acknowledging a “GET OUT” warning. I encourage anyone in relationships or dating someone with these signs to self-reflect and know your worth. It’s never worth the trouble in the end. The person that deserves to be in your life will be the opposite of every sign listed above. That person will love everything about you and will even encourage you to be the best person you desire to be in this life.

Felicia’s Madcap Podcast: Troop talks about their new single “Lady In My Life”

Troop
TROOP

On March 30th at 7 pm CST, I had the pleasure to interview TROOP. The legendary R&B group which consisted of five black young American all male singing group from Pasadena, California. Troop had earned three #1 singles and ten singles that were top 10 for weeks on Billboard. Their achievements have earned them five albums that included three certified gold and one certified platinum album.

THE MEANING BEHIND TROOP

TROOP stood for something more than just a group but actual meaning. Total Respect Of Other People. The group is most well known and respected for its record-breaking number of R&B hits including the cover versions of the songs “All I Do Is Think of You” and “Sweet November”, originally performed by all-time singers The Jackson 5 and The Deele, respectively.

The original song “Spread My Wings” also took off as a number-one hit in during their career.

TROOP

Starting in the 1980s, after winning on a televised lip singing talent show called “Puttin’ on the Hits,” the group had begun to earn interest from record labels.

Troop was a group created by Rodney Benford with childhood friends Steve Russell, Allen McNeil, John Harreld, and Reggie Warren, whom all eventually signed with Atlantic Records. Troop released their single “Mamacita” from the groups album in 1988. “Mamacita” had gone as high as Number 2 on the Billboard’s R&B Chart.

BODY OF WORK

“Spread My Wings” and “All I Do Is Think of You” (a Jackson 5 cover) were all singles from the album Attitude. Hitting number one charts and remained in the top 10 for several weeks.  Attitude went platinum in 1990.

In 1992 Deepa was released, resulting in the single “Sweet November” hitting number one on Billboard. The group doubled back from Deepa with two more albums, A Lil’ Sumpin’ Sumpin’ (1994) and Mayday (1998).

After releasing Mayday in 98, Troop took a break to rebuild, redirect, and refocus on other work behind
the scenes. From writing and producing projects, collaborations and other endeavors it helped to shape the men they are today.

In 2004, Troop reconnected and begun touring the country while finishing up their sixth album. Since returning, they’ve headlined several shows and also shared performances with other artists they toured with in the past. Artists like Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight, Keith Sweat, Silk, Mario and Jon B.

NATIONAL ACCLAIM

Troop was showcased on The Late Show with David Letterman, Train and It’s Showtime at the Apollo. Troop made an appearance on the feature film New Jack City, singing a cappella while participating in a soundtrack with Queen Latifah and Gerald Levert. Producing remarkable covers of The O’Jays’ “For the Love of Money” and Stevie Wonder’s “Living for the City”.

In October 2006 “Troop” collaborated with “The Mixx” radio station, becoming the root the group and its growth. Russell is the singing voices of several characters, among them doo-wop singer Little Albert and the five brothers who make up the Jackson 5 pastiche (The Campbell Connection) in the 2006 film version of the Broadway musical Dreamgirls.

Steve Russell also wrote “Take You Down” for Chris Brown, “No Air” for Jordin Sparks, and the Grammy Award-winning “Invisible” for Jennifer Hudson. In February 2010 he released his solo CD titled So Random which became the first release from his label Motel Music Media in January 2010.

Allen McNeil released his sophomore solo album Send for Me in November 2011 . Allen has also stepped into the role of an activist. In 2014, John “Jon Jon” Harreld announced that he was dedicating his time to working on a solo project and later released a single covering Luther Vandross “Never Too Much“, which is also in connection with this new project. Unfortunately, Reggie Warren passed away on March 14, 2021, after an illness that he fought over time, He was 52 at the time.
