GLASSES MALONE Drops “KANYE SHOULD’VE NEVER MARRIED (THAT B*TCH)”

#GetSOM via @essince

Watts rapper GLASSES MALONE recruits Los Angeles sibling duo L.A. Giantz and iconic West Coast rapper Suga Free for an unapologetic Gangster Rap track “Kanye Should’ve Never Married (That B*tch)” via his own independent label Division Movie Company. Over the hard-hitting West Coast production by Ervin “EP” Pope, the four rappers lay into the trappings of toxic female sexuality.

“It’s time to confront the toxic femininity sweeping through Hip-Hop. Women have been poisoned by false idols who themselves have been stricken by tons of insecurities. Enough is enough. Someone has to stand up against it! Why not us? We had to do it, cuh. It had to be the Loc,” explains Glasses.

On Saturday, April 30 fans can watch Glasses Malone perform live at 93.5 KDAY Krush Groove event happening at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA. Tickets available HERE.

Your Next SIM Sard Could Be Built DIRECTLY Into The Phone Chip!

CELBRATING HIP-HOP, LIFESTYLE & CULTURE THIS IS STRAIGHT OFFICIAL MAGAZINE

Are iSIMs the next wave of SIMs cards?

I’ll try not to get too technical here. Traditionally, connection to a cellular network involves the use of a SIM card. Any change in network has required a simple swap of the SIM card. Software-based eSIMs marry the functionality and capability of a SIM card.

This would enable the ability to change provider remotely. It would aide in consumer choice. This would enable newer service models, offering greater flexibility in design.

iSIM Versus eSIM

iSIM offers the same benefits as eSIM. The difference is that it’s directly integrated into a device’s main processor. It sits alongside other capabilities like CPU and GPU. Operators can remotely provision iSIMs with existing eSIMs. Manufacturers and customers will have more freedom in the size and type of device they can connect to.

Here is one example. The space where a SIM chip used to be could can house a bigger phone battery. Who doesn’t want to have longer battery life?

Enrico Salvatori (@E_Salvatori) / Twitter

“iSIM solutions offer great opportunities to MNOs, free-up valuable space in devices for OEMs, and provide flexibility for device users. To benefit from the full potential of 5G networks and experiences across a wide range of device categories.

Enrico Salvatori, Senior VP/President, Europe/MEA, Qualcomm Europe

Salvatori continued, “Areas that will benefit most from iSIM technology include smartphones, mobile PCs, VR/XR headsets, and industrial IoT. Engineering the iSIM technology into the SoC, we are able to create additional support for OEMs in our Snapdragon platform.”

PUT IT TO THE TEST

This latest proof-of-concept adhered to GSMA specifications and staged at a Samsung European R&D facility. The device in question was a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 888 5G Mobile Platform and Thales iSIM operating system.

All parties claim its success demonstrates its commercial readiness. Alex Froment-Curtil, CCO at Vodafone gave his remarks. “Our aim is to create a world where every device connects seamlessly and simply to each other. Giving the customer complete control.”

The iSIM, combined with our remote management platform, is a major step in this direction. It allows devices to be connected without a physical SIM or dedicated chip. Making connectivity to many objects and the promise of the connected IoT world – a reality.

RED LIGHT PLAYLIST | New Music Monday

Happy Monday, y’all! The day is almost over, and soon the smooth sounds of the “Midnight Meltdown” will begin caressing the airwaves of Moore Music Radio. Nevertheless, today is New Music Monday across the nation. That means I had to bring y’all a red light playlist, specially curated by me! Now, this list in no particular ranking or order, just catch the vibes and let me know which song stood out to you. Hopefully you can find a few that are brand new to you.

10. SWEET MARCELLA x MR. NOVA

To start off our red light playlist, here we have Mr. Nova with an up tempo, yet suave melody. It really makes you feel something. I just don’t if I feel in my heart or my… you know.

9. ALWAYS x JON VINYL

Next up, Jon Vinyl with “Always” from his album ‘Lost In You’. If love songs that make you close your eyes, snap, and sing – THIS THE ONE!

8. COUNTLESS TIMES x MARZZ

In this video we have Marzz, a voice for the young folk with an old soul. You may have seen her on the Soul Train Awards and let me just say, hearing her sing live adds a whole new sparkle to this song.

7. LET YOU GO x ANAYKA SHE

I’m so excited to see what Anayka She does in her career because this song is just so rich and honest. Unfortunately, we often see girls who look like her and sing like her struggle to breakout.

6. CLOSER 2 ME x A HAYGAN & SASHA RENEE

Take a listen to this single from A Haygan & Sasha. The vibes are oh-so-nostalgic, and the spoken word is simply what intimacy feels like through art.

5. I JUST WANNA KNOW x JADE NOVAH

Now, we always knew this woman could sing from her viral videos. If you’ve been loving the Silk Sonic collabs (i.e. Smoking Out the Window, Leave the Door Open), then you will love this track from Jade.

4. NOTHING EVEN MATTERS x KEVIN ROSS & KIRBY

Now this one is a classic remake. Dare I say that the vibes in this song are even smoother than the original by Lauryn Hill & D’Angelo. The vocals just flow together like water. We often discourage artists from remakes because we DO NOT want them to mess up our favorites, but give this one a chance!

3. GRIND IT ON ME x CHIEF GRIFFEY

Hailing out of Louisville, KY we have Chief Griffey (who is also celebrating another year in the industry today). It gives us some R&B vibes with a Soca crossover. If you’re trying to wine and grind, check this out!

2. BAD x BRXTN

First things first, thank you for this track BRXTN because every time I listen to this song, without fail, I just feel super sexy. This is a perfect song to add to your red-light playlist whether you’re a single or a couple.

1. DISCRETION x STEFFANY MONEQUE

Lastly, but not least we have Steffany Moneque with the breathtaking song “Discretion”. This track gives me mixed emotions because, my goodness it’s beautiful, but it’s so intense. Oooo girl, this is poetry!

So, what was your favorite? Tag me in your responses on Instagram @mochathemack

Ready for Snoop Doggs?

Snoop Dogg

#GetSOM – @MsBoomNYC

Rap pioneer SNOOP DOGG has done it all. From cooking shows to cannabis and gin, there’s nothing that he hasn’t tried and succeeded at. So what’s next for the Long Beach rap legend? Hot Dogs! Snoop will now be hawking hotdogs which will be aptly dubbed “Snoop Doggs”.

Snoop applied last month for a U.S. Patent for a federal trademark registration for the name which he says he will use to sell franks and other types of sausages. Snoop‘s lawyer filed for the name as an “intent-to-use.” This would mean he hasn’t actually launched the hot dog brand, but wants to lock the name down for future use.

You would think that hot dogs would be the last business Snoop would involve himself in. Back in 2016, Snoop made headlines with an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!  He watched a step-by-step process of how hot dogs are made. By the end of the segment, Snoop said: “This is a hot dog!? Oh cuz, I ain’t never eating a m*****f****** hot dog! If that’s how they make hot dogs, I don’t want one. I’m good.” Stay tuned for more but don’t be surprised if you see Snoop Doggs in a store near you! – Boom

All Hip-Hop reports that the 50-year-old is no stranger to the culinary world, having released his cookbook, “From Crook to Cook: Platinum Recipes from Tha Boss Dogg’s Kitchen” in 2018, and appeared in a string of cooking show segments alongside his pal Martha Stewart.

SOMag Presents “The Fleet Files” With Fleet DJ’s: DJ Laz Vagez | @lazvagez416

FOR OVER TWO DECADES, THE FLEET DJ’S HAS GROWN FROM A SMALL CREW TO A PROFICIENT COALITION WITH OVER 500 MEMBERS AND COUNTING. SINCE 2001, THE WORLDWIDE FLEET DJ’S HAS CHANGED THE LIVES OF BOTH ITS MEMBERS AND THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY THEY HAVE THRIVED IN.
THESE ARE THE MEMBERS. HERE ARE THEIR STORIES. WELCOME TO “THE FLEET FILES”!

They don’t call it the WORLDWIDE Fleet DJ’s for no reason. In this file, we head across the U.S. border to Ontario, Canada where we meet none other than artist, producer, engineer, DJ Laz Vagez. It’s safe to say that he is a jack of all trades, and we can’t be mad at that because most of the illustrious Fleet members are. Vagez became a member in 2009 and returned in 2021. So, who is DJ Laz Vagez and how dare he be from Canada with a name like Laz Vagez? Let’s jump right into it!

WHY LAZ VAGEZ STANDS OUT

He came up with his name years ago when he was a radio host for Champ Radio at a local university when he was alongside Hollywood and M Dot (RIP). It was only fitting, but he started his career long before that. At the age 12, he started rapping under the moniker D’Sinatra. By 14 years old, he dedicated his life’s work of engineering to help the hood come up. I guess that’s why you can rarely go to state where he doesn’t know anyone. Fun fact: did you know that Laz Vagez was a credited engineer on a Smiley/Drake collab? He’s really making a name for himself out here.

STRAIGHT OFFICIAL, FORREAL

Vagez is a real asset to us here in Fleet and on the Straight Official staff being that he is one of the program directors on Straight Official Radio. Since he’s so involved in the radio scene, I asked him what the top 3 songs are that he listens to all the time. His playlist right now includes $500 ounces x Westside Gunn, ‘97 Hov x Benny the Butcher, CTG x D’Sinatra & Rock Nitty. He says that becoming a DJ allowed him to learn to read crowds and recognize what music meshes well with other music and to love and respect other genres. He has a lot of people looking up to him so even we think he’s going hard; he’s already thinking of ways to go harder.

Artists, stay consistent. Find a producer and continue to work with that person, that’s how you create saucy hits. Producers, be willing to create new sounds and network. Put out your work anywhere and everywhere. Make beat kits and drum kits and COLLAB! We can collab with anyone all over the world

Laz Vagez’s advice to upcoming industry members

FUTURE FOR VAGEZ

What’s next for the multi-talented DJ? He’s currently in the process of perfecting his production craft in order to build a project like the Metro Boomin‘ x 21 Savage collab. I hear he’s coming out with an online course for engineers as well. I’m so grateful to connect with such a powerhouse. He’s not a person you can be around and remain stagnant. I’m excited to see what he achieves in the next decade.

SOMag Presents “The Fleet Files” With Fleet DJ’s: Mocha The Mack | @mochathemack

For over two decades, the fleet dj’s has grown from a small crew to a proficient coalition with over 500 members and counting. since 2001, THE WORLDWIDE FLEET DJ’s has changed the lives of both its members and the entertainment industry they have thrived in.

These are the members. These are Their Stories. THESE ARE “THE FLEET FILES”

Name: MOcha the Mack

FLeet DJ Since: 2021

Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Region: south region/Florida Fleet DJ’s

WHO IS MOCHA THE MACK?

MOCHA THE MACK is the newest member of The Worldwide Fleet DJ’s for a reason. Although she’s rarely behind the ones and twos, it’s her one-two combination of being a journalist and media personality that’s enough to move the crowd. As a writer for Straight Official Magazine, Mocha is a part of the home publication of Fleet DJ’s. She does it all from content creation and promotions to music reviews and interviews.

Her whatever-it-takes persona has helped the magazine in it’s growth. “I’m winning by helping y’all win, so if you ever need an assistant or PR rep on your team, I’m ya girl! If you need something and don’t know where to find it, I’m ya girl, I’ll help connect you.”

Justice B.K. has always had a desire to become a writer. Even before she became Mocha, she knew way back in Kindergarten that this was her path. “I used to make student and staff gossip mags out of loose leaf paper. After that I focused on music training and passed up the opportunity to establish myself as a writer in high school and college.”

You have to be willing to always be a student to excel at anything, not just journalism.

Mocha The Mack

When I asked where she draws inspiration from to create, she relied on a personal creed. “My motto has always been “Aspire to Inspire” and that’s just been applicable to everything for me. I really didn’t know how many people would actually pay attention to me, without me going out of my way to be extraordinary.”

In her journey into journalism, Mocha has found her way to approach interviewing that makes the reader feel as if they were there during the sit down. “When I transcribe interviews, I always tell the subject’s story as colorful as possible because I want you to see the picture they painted for me.” Mocha also controls her own narrative by being cautious with her words. “But when I talk about myself, I’m just as strategic with words because you only know what I allow you to know. That’s how I control my story.”

WHAT DRIVES MOCHA

Mocha has always had big dreams. Besides wanting to be a teacher, she’s been preparing herself for a career in music. “I’ve been training musically my ENTIRE life so I sing, dance/choreograph, act, and even DJ a little! (laughs) We talked about peaks and valleys in our respective paths. Mocha talked about overcoming herself to achieve her goals.

“My best experience would have to be my early days of interviewing and being a mistress of ceremonies. I knew it was what I wanted to do but I was so scared of rejection. Those programs went extremely well and I got so much praise for just being courageous! I learned to believe in myself and keep pushing through with this thing no matter what!”

There was a point in time that Mocha could have walked away from her pursuit of her journalism. She told me that two words she kept hearing most of her life almost changed everything if not for an invitation to join Fleet. “I never would have taken my journalism career seriously if I hadn’t joined. Too many times in life I heard that I “should have”. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity again.”

Follow your heart and do what you love because that will make it easier for you to stick to it and win. You may have to do a million different activities until you find what you love, but just do it!

Mocha’s advice to aspiring artists

I had to ask Mocha how she came up with her name. Her story behind it was hilarious! “So not that many people know my real name anymore and I just refuse to tell most people because they try to act like they really know me (laughs). On the other hand, I needed a rebrand for people to take me seriously. I had a friend back in the day whose hair color was the same as her skin. I’m an earth sign so I guess it makes sense that I like brown anyway but I had to come up with a cuter name than brown, so I chose Mocha.”

She continued, “Everyone began calling me Mocha, despite a few haters but I digress (laughs) then Megan Thee Stallion said in a verse “I get in my act on that yak/ He call me “Megan Thee Mack” and that just stuck with me! Anyone who knows me knows how Mocha can get of the yak so I replaced Megan with Mocha. Now I can’t sing it any other way!”(laughs)

IN CLOSING

My sit down with Mocha was indeed inspirational. As a writer myself it was easy to connect with her on several viewpoints. When I asked her if we could look forward to any future projects, she was a bit reluctant. “The problem is I tell y’all stuff a little too early sometimes (laughs) but, I can tell y’all that my book is still under construction and y’all can look forward to writers’ workshops happening very soon. Y’all go follow @MackbookMedia on Instagram because it’s coming!”
